What would you do

Ok here is a question for anyone who reads this entry. Note what your response is. You go into a store and buy some items. You leave the store and the total is less than you thought it would be. Later in the day you look at the receipt and the items again. You realize that the cashier forgot to add one of the items to the total. Would you think that it was the cashiers (therefore the stores mistake) and feel that you are entitled to keep the item.

Or would you go back to the store later, tell the store about the mistake and pay for that item. That happened to me today. The price of the item is around $2.95. I thought about it and decided to go to the store, tell them what happened and give them the money. Tomorrow I want to go some craft sales, thrift store shopping and to either go to a perogy borscht dinner or to a restaurant that my sister was talking about on Sunday.

The roads weren`t really great today. I hate that when my car skids on ice and kind of gets stuck in the ice or snow at intersections. At least it is the weekend now. I don`t have to drive again, for a few more days.

Good point in the notes about the cashier possibly getting into trouble. I didn’t realize something so serious could happen to her. And she was a very nice girl. Even if she wasn’t, I wouldn’t want that to happen to anyone. I think I will go to that store tomorrow and see if they have some kind  of donation box. If not I already planned on donating around $25 to the salvation Army this year.

Id donate $3.00 to one of those store front Santa clause or give that to a homeless person

I would be afraid the cashier would get in trouble. If I notice the mistake right away I will say something but this has happened to me before, where I noticed after the fact. So I donated the money. Like just put it in one of those cans at 7-11 for abused animals or whatever. Then I didn’t have to feel guilty about keeping the money but I didn’t run the risk of getting someone fired.

I would go back. I had a vendor give me 1500 cash, then turn around and give my husband 1500 cash, and i turned around and gave the money back. It’s good karma. ;0))

Keep it. They’ll never know. They keep inventory counts, but since the cashier didn’t take the wrong amount of money, her drawer will not be off. That’s the most important thing.

There’s no way I would ever notice. I figure if I don’t notice mistakes made in my favor or mistakes made in the stores favor it all evens out in the end!
