Yesterday was a fun but long day. We arrived at the ex around noon. Karl had bought unlimited ride passes and I bought front of the line passes. We went on this one ride, the spinout. Karl started to turn white and breaking out into a sweat. I asked what was wrong and he said the ride harness was on too tight. He said he was starting to black out. He didn’t but looked as though he wasn’t feeling that well.
We went on one more ride then the orbiter. It isn’t scary but spins around frequently. He wasn’t looking that good so I said "are you going to puke?" It was almost the end of the ride and he nodded then puked his xtra large Tim’s coffee onto the floor area. I was embarassed he just found it funny. He said he was fine but I didn’t really believe him. It took quite a while before I would go with him on more of the faster paced rides. I was getting red and overheated. So we left after a few hours and I had a chicken salad sandwich then a slurpee. I burned my nose, ouch!
I probably went on at least 25-30 rides. We were there until almost midnight. The only rides I didn’t go on were the triple flip, the ring of fire, and the zipper. At one point we were going to go on the octopus and this kid puked violently just after he got off the ride. He was surrounded by other people getting off the ride. I think he puked on this girl who was beside him. She looked pretty disgusted. So we went on another ride till the puke was cleaned up. I saw the cops leading away a young teenager in handcuffs. They even had a little police station there. No jail though.
At one point I was these teens who I think were gangbangers. They were wearing the colors for this one gang TerrorSquad. And one of them had an obvious gang tattoo. He looked at me and asked about my front of the line ride pass. I told him and he proudly said "I just budge in line." I said "whatever works for you." I had this mental image of him in line at some kiddie ride such as the carousel budging in front of a 5 year old. It would be one of those funny pics you see on Facebook with the caption "Im a TerrorSquad gangsta I budge."
Later on when I was at another ride there was a kid who looked like a gangbanger behind me. He had one of those teardrop tattoos on his face. He had a lighter he kept flicking and was moving back and forth mumbling to himself about where his homies were. I did not like that. I went on the Pharoh’s fury and had the back section all to myself. Karl felt sick on it last year. Just then the fireworks went off and they were spectacular especially from that height.
I had gone on the intense drop ride then we went on the tilt a whirl. The guy was spraying something on the bottom of the ride buckets and said to me he was lubing it. That kind of made me laugh. Then during the ride he was making us go the fastest which was intense in a good way. After he asked how it was and I said "awesome." My head was still spinning when we went on the octopus. That carnie also gave us the fastest one on there. He even told us after it was. Later in the evening the lines were the rides were eextremely long. With our front of the line passes we only had to wait for a short time though. I think the longest we waited was maybe 10 minutes. There was a separate entrance for the riders with those passes. The people in the long line were giving us dirty looks once in a while. We did pay the extra money though.
The final ride was the alien abduction one. The carnie on there gave everyone an extra ride and the lights were flashing. At that point I had enough. I was ready to go. As we walked out a short stocky guy was talking angrily to a younger taller guy. The younger guy said "What did I do wrong." The older guy was right in the younger guys personal space and angrily said "You talked vulgar in front of my grandkids." Then the police took the younger guy away in their cop car.
Tonight I went to a play at the fringe with my friend Christian. I hadn’t seen him for a few years. It was nice to catch up with him. I had heard that there was supposed to be a meteor shower. I didn’t see anything though.
That was really nice that you saw the guy actually maintaining the ride. Must have made you feel really safe! Sounds like a great time. I didn’t go to the ex this year. I was so disgusted with the price that I most likely never will go again. I can only imagine the added expense of the front of the line passes, but it sounds like they were needed.
