We had our first day of swimming lessons with the girls today. After a late night, broken sleep and early morning (again), I wasn’t feeling to flash when we got up. But I managed to wake up on the drive, and we ended up there a couple minutes early.

Ali wanted me to take both girls to their classes (back to back, same teacher), thinking Anna would be more comfortable with momma and Ella would follow on from her class she took end of last year. Anna has always been slightly scared of the water, but she did soooo well today! She wasn’t too sure at first, and then just didn’t pay attention since there was SO much going on…but she did very well indeed. Ella was a little darling, and dominated our small class of 4 (3 boys with their 3 dads, plus me and Ella, lol) She was giggling and jumping and excited! Unfortunately she did have a little spew after inhaling some water. Just a little one!! I got most of it on me, and just hopped out, showered us off, and hopped back in! She was good to go!

Anyway, at the end of it I was pretty dang tired. I know I’ve overdone it when my baby belly is sore and tight. I told Alister I wouldn’t be able to do both classes every week, and he said that’s fine. So we’re going to take turns with each of the girls; Anna one week, Ella the next.

We got home and had a lazy afternoon, which was naughty of me since I had a cake to bake and decorate by tomorrow at 10am! Well, we were meant to go out for dinner as a date, but the babysitter had to cancel, so I figured I could bake throughout the afternoon, and then I could decorate in the afternoon. And I did, and it worked out great! All I have left to do is the lettering, and I’ll whip out my Cricut Cake in the morning, and that will take all of 10 minutes 🙂

After dinner, the girls were playing in the living room while daddy watched the news (or the All Blacks playing Australia, can’t remember which), and Ella was doing her FAVOURITE thing, which is spinning. Annabelle was watching her with a big grin on her face, and they were both taking turns running to me for a hug, before returning to play (I was sitting on the floor to hang out with them).

Anna was chasing Ella, and then Ella gave her a big hug after getting her attention “Belle!”. They both promptly fell to the ground, and got up giggling. Then Ella went back to spinning again…..then Anna started spinning! She was SO excited to have figured it out!! She fell down a lot, and after she got back up she had to kinda think about how to do it again….but she did, and it was fabulous! I just giggled and grinned and felt my heart just about burst with love for my girls for a good half hour of my evening. Best time of the day!! Then unfortunately, back to caking.

I made a Ben 10 cake, which I know absolutely nothing about, so I cheated and googled it, and used a design someone else had done. Funny how the most simple designs can still take ages! Anyway, it’s basically a 10inch square cake, which 2 cutouts on the sides, with a short 6inch round cake on top, iced with buttercream, covered in fondant, and then decorated with various buttons and knobs made out of fondant. That was the easy part. The hard part was actually modelling figures of Ben 10 and an Alien. Seriously hard. The alien looks awesome, Ben 10 up to his head looks great…..his head makes me think I should never ever do human figures, lol.

Anyway, I need to get to bed, until tomorrow! Or the next day…. 😉

Sooo love those moments of joy with kids. I remember those from nannying!!! So great to watch the beauty of their play and exploration and relish in the wonder that they see in everything. Hope the sharing of the swimming makes a big difference.
