Cakes and Kiddies!

So my writing every day suffered this weekend, mostly due to the fact that I had to make the cake for the contest I won! It took aaages, but I was so happy with it, it looked just like the design (ok, mostly), and I was pretty pleased with that result. Alister was a big help to me too, both in watching the kids while reassuring me the cake was coming along fine, and using his artistic talents to make a line on the cake for the kiwi design! I love my man of many talents!!

So it was picked up yesterday, pics taken and now my obligations are fulfilled, so I am just waiting for my prize to arrive! Woo!!

Last night we learned that Anna is a big watcher and we don’t even realise! I often give Ella a “high five” for doing well, and last night Anna blew her nose for me (which is a good thing when you have a sick child) so unthinkingly, I went to give her a high five as I told her well done! Her face lit up like a Christmas tree and she gave me a whomping high five! Not bad for her first one!! I asked Ali if he’d ever given her one, and he said no, so for the next 5 minutes we did high fives with the girls and Anna was SO EXCITED to be playing with us like that. I guess I should stop taking for granted that she’s the baby!!

Speaking of last night, Ella decided to wake up at 5am, and WOULD NOT go back to sleep!! I decided to be nice, and took her into bed with us to cuddle for the rest of the morning, but she just wouldn’t settle down and fall back to sleep! We woke Ali up heaps, she tried climbing out of bed to go watch a movie, and she just kept going!! Finally, after at least an hour of this, I said forget it! So I took her back to bed, then gave her a drink and put on her music and night light like we do for bedtime…and said goodnight and firmly closed the door! Not a peep from her, and she went back to sleep until 9am, bliss!! (btw, this was after Annabelle went to sleep at 11:30, so I was SO over kids being up late!)

Ok, so it’s morning and I need to go and take care of my girls who are now awake! Tonight is Ali’s night off, so I want the kitchen clean and dinner mostly prepared so I can have a nice evening with my girls! 🙂
