Weekend events, dieting rambles, a few pics.
I can’t believe it is Monday morning already. This weekend absolutely flew by. We were pretty busy this weekend though. Saturday we went to my mom’s house for her family reunion. I initially didn’t want to go, but I’m glad that we did. I saw all of my aunts and uncles (minus 1). Everyone made it a point to stop and talk to me, and that made me very happy. My mom’s siblings are getting up in age and some in poor health, and I know at some point we won’t have everyone there. My kids were actually manageable and Jamie and I could sit a bit and chit chat. We didn’t stay but just for an hour and half because we had an appointment at the car dealership at 3. We had already made a good deal at another car lot on a mitsubishi outlander earlier in the week, but I couldn’t get past how it didn’t have any power when you drove it. It was the perfect size, and I really liked its styling. So we went to a different lot to try out full size cars and see how we liked those in comparison. We wound up trying out a Sonata and loved it. It is the turbo charged version (hello power!) and has a ton of features (sat nav, back up cam, moon roof, nice wheels, leather, etc). I want an SUV, but the car works nicely. You can fit 3 car seats in the backseat if the need is ever to arise for us (although we may need to invest in a slim model seat for one of the kids). And the best part? It is Sparkling Red in color haha. I have always wanted a red car. I’ll miss my Yaris, but I really like my new car. It’s almost like it is too good to be true.
There is some drama going on with Jamie’s family right now. They found out that we bought a new (well it is a 2012) car (via facebook) and are angry about it. It’s not really any of their business. I’m sorry they are having a hard time financially, but that is their own fault, and not my responsibility to fix. It’s not my fault she snorted $30,000.00 worth of pills (in 2 months!) and then they racked up credit card debt while he spoiled her trying to "make her want to get better".
Anywho, yesterday we took the kids to the safari that is a little over an hour from our house. They have a petting zoo as soon as you enter, and then they take you on a big bus (that has the windows removed) through the "outback". Owen enjoyed the ride. Ethan cried and screamed the entire time because he wanted to run around the bus instead of sitting still and I wouldn’t let him. They were a little afraid when the camel stuck his head in the bus right in our faces (I thought it was hilarious). Owen told the camel "Don’t you bother me!" Too darn funny. We were there really early, so we were the only ones on the bus.
After the Safari we drove to Roanoke to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese. They love that place. I got to have lunch from Hibachi Express 🙂 so it was a win-win.
Jamie meets with his surgeon today to schedule the removal of his gall bladder. I’m thinking that they will do it sometime this week. My mom is going to take off from work to watch the kids so that I can go with him when he has the surgery. I’m nervous about it, but he will be alright. It is a relatively minor surgery and should get to leave fairly quickly afterward. The thought of anyone going under anesthesia freaks me out.
I joined a dietbet a few days ago (I guess it has been almost a week now). I don’t like that they charge you $5.00 registration fee per game. I also get the feeling that people are cheating the system a little bit with their weigh ins. People were reporting 1 &2 lb losses on the very first day, which makes me think they were weighing in at different times of the day to make it look like a large loss (I am usually a few pounds heavier in the evening compared to first thing in the morning). I dunno if I am going to do any more or not. It depends on how this one plays out I guess. I am back to strictly tracking my calories, and will be exercising 4 – 5 days per week. I over ate this weekend, so we will see how I do this week. I hope it didn’t set me back too far. When you attach money to losing weight, it gives you a lot more motivation and determination. I mean, you’ll only end up winning like $5 or so if you meet your goal, but the initial investment is hard to swallow if you forfeit it by not meeting your goal.
This is probably my favorite photo of Jamie ever. Not only is it funny, he has the biggest genuine grin too.
Ethan kept getting right up next to the birds and I was afraid he was going to be bitten (notice this big sign next to him says "Caution We Bite")
I loved this goat and wanted to bring him home with us. He was fat and lazy and Owen really liked him.
My car 🙂
Unfortunately I didn’t get any photos of myself there 🙁
