Sweety has a Bad, Bad Dog…

I got home with the groceries today, and was met by both the dogs at the back door.

Our new little girl, Cera, had some white junk of some sort on the side of her mouth. I figured it was wet kleenex, since she got caught munching kleenexes the other day (yeah, I don’t get it either).

When I wiped it off, I realized it wasn’t wet kleenex, it was dough. Sticky, wet dough.  But we hadn’t made fresh dough of any kind for a week or two.

then I looked into the kitchen and saw this….

the pantry is off to the right, about 4 feet.
The pantry is off to the right of the fridge.

Little Cera has been with us only about 5-6 weeks, and we’ve often left the pantry doors open. Well, not again.

close-up of remains

Cera dragged the bag and the plastic bag it as in out, and a lot of the contents were out of the bag so to speak.

Can you see teethmarks on the bag here?
when i lifted the bag up, i realized there was more of the bag missing on the bottom too.

So, I guess even the pets around here come out of the closet, or at least, the pantry.

Aieee, carumba.  And I’ve got no spanish or hispanic heritage at all.

Oh well, the pantries now have to stay closed. And the flour will live on a little bit higher shelf.  Actually, more than just a little bit higher.  She’s already shown the ability to jump first to the dining room chair, then get up on the dining room table.  An adventurous little lady, I’ll say that for her.

Okay, that’s it for tonite.
take care all.

Dough!

May 9, 2008

I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but please keep a close eye on her for a couple of days. My shepard pup got into a bag of flour and it killed him. Something about gumming up his insides.

Maybe she was trying to make some pizza?

My first thought was what a mischievous little dog but then I saw mystykwolf’s note & now I’m nervous Cera will get sick from eating the flour. Hopefully she played with the flour & didn’t eat too much of it.

Aren’t new puppies fun? Trust me- we have been going through the same issues with our 3 we got. (Why get one when you can have THREE!?) Yes- they rearrange our lives- but aren’t they worth it? I love them to pieces. Hey- we now have to throw our laptop into a box when we leave them because Walter loves to chew on computer cords. Oh ya- we also have to keep all trash cans uphigh because Walter loves dirty kleenix and other things. Oh ya- we have to make sure all chairs are tucked tightly into the table so Walter and Nezzie don’t jump onto the table- thus creating havoc. I love dogs- really!

RYN: I don’t think I would. 10 an hour would mean room for more raises, and I would still have to find a roommate. It would be the bare minimum. I need to make around 12-14 an hour to survive on my own. And that’s management. Ah well. It’ll work out. The universe will see to that.

Land sakes alive! Might better rename her the little dough beater. *giggles* That thing about the dough … I agree, the yeast could cause some swelling, so I’m wondering if an oil based laxative might be in order with lots of water if you can get her to drink it. I don’t know….. but, I’d watch her close. Pets are like childrenz….always up to somethan!

Oh dear… why did she decide to get into the dough NOW, I wonder? We got our dogs when I was 10 years old (yup, they’re old men now), so I had so much trouble with dogs trying to chew up my toys. Nightmare! My sister had a doll with no hands or feet because Jasper got at it!

I remember when I used to have two dogs and locked them into the kitchen – they got into the spaghetti, the pasta sauce (broke the jars) and the paper towels. Another dog had broken into the brewer’s yeast – nice white muzzle on a black snout to give him away… Such fun to have pets.

Yikes! Once when my children were little and I was visiting my mother who worked night work and was asleep, I took the kids downstairs and promptly fell asleep again myself. I was awakened by gleeful sounds of snow, snow. They had gotten a canister of flour and were making snow all over the living room and the new carpet. Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes!

She was craving a biscuit!

Oh my gosh. There are days I dread coming home because I’m afraid one of the cats or the dog have done something just like this. Oy. ryn: Oh, if only I could say I’d been productive. Mostly I’ve been daydreaming about all my vacations. This was going to be my quarter to really, really focus on work. Heh.

wow.. that dog is mischievous

All she wanted to do was some paper mache sculptures…. lol! When Kody was still a puppy (in a weak moment, I am sure), she chewed the arm of the couch. She has never done anything like that before or since – go fig. It now always has a throw over it.

Flour is sweet if one has diastatic enzymes in one’s saliva. Hey Jude, want to meet at Dogfish for beer tomorrw afternoon? I’m here MTW but we usually get out early on W. 🙂

So sorry for the incerdibly short notice. We’ll try it next time. Be well!
