Great Fun

I took half a ‘play-day’ on Thursday. We left at noon and drove out to Westbury Long Island, as we had tickets to see Gretchen Wilson that evening. We checked into a hotel and headed to Jones Beach – Coolies! We relaxed for a while, chatted with a friendly woman, stuck our feet into the water a few times and headed back. I have not been to Jones Beach in way more years than I would like to recount. I went to college out there (Hofstra University in Hempstead) and that is where I would play hooky.

The concert was awesome. I really went to hear 2 songs ["Redneck Woman" and "I’m Here For the Party"] and loved everything she sang. She has wonderful energy and rocked the house.

The next morning, we heard on the TV that there was a tractor trailer accident involving an overpass and the road we need to take was closed. We waited a bit and headed north towards the Tappan Zee bridge, instead of south to the George Washington. We had absolutely no traffic and made it home in about the same amount of time that it would have taken the other way. We had a friend stay over and another friend come by to let the baby beast out.

This is what we saw that prompted us to get out of the pool.

More rain – it came down with quite a force.

I ran into the house to get something; for the life of me I can’t remember what could have been that important. I was soaked, by the time I got back to the gazebo.

Get Real

I am in awe of your pond every time I see it. I’ve always wanted one just like that- all natural looking with perfect little waterfalls. I swear, if it’s the last thing I do (well- hopefully not, LOL) I’m going to get one installed when the bitter sweet day comes that we finally move into my dad’s inherited house.

RYN: You know, I think I will try to get some extra ones in this week! I need some booster shots of positive thinking!

P.S. And I just love thunderstorms! (As long as I’m not out in the open or under a tree)

ryn – I agree. The disrepair factor was particularly high in that small town. One old store actually had weeds growing inside, clearly visible through a large plate glass window. I thought of taking a photo since it was odd, but it was just too sad.

Your rain pelting the pond photo is begging for an artist to paint it.
