It’s a Garage …

Well almost! So far only two of the walls are up, but Linda and her partner in crime have been building away. The garage is quite large and will have a loft for storage (we have lotsa stuff). The floor is concrete, which was poured last week.

And so it starts ….

The truck driver and a friend of ours helped out while it was pouring. I took photos and kept a safe distance.

They all worked very hard to level it before it set. 

And a sore back was had by all.

The two side walls were built on the ground and then lifted with a jack-type gizmo.

I missed the first wall going up, but was there for second one.

The metal pole works like a very tall car jack. It has a hook on the top that stops the wall from flipping totally over to the other side.

They are building the back wall in place and the loft has been started. This type of work boggles my mind. I can’t fathom putting together such a structure. The man who is working with Linda totally built his own house; his work is beautiful and he cleans up after himself (my bitch with most contractors is that they are very messy).

I have not been busy at work and that makes me crazy. I have also been looking and have submitted my resume for several positions. I have been scouring the internet; most of the jobs are too far to commute or are traveling.  This week I am going to a hospital in a suburb of Philadelphia for two days to train an analyst. I will leave very early Tuesday, spend one night in a hotel and be back Wednesday evening. We spoke last week and they  also have some remote work for me (fixing help desk problems).
