Dust

The dust from traveling has finally settled. I’m now at the sheep station with B, deep in central SA, outback.

I thank Spirit for all the good health, good company, good weather, good experiences, and wonderful intimacy. I was in a drought.

Would it be too much, or too greedy, to ask to find a few gold nuggets? How much more do I really need? How much more could I handle?

In case the world ends next week… never mind.

I should save this background for when I rant about sheople, but I can make more.

Driving to Phoenix, flying to Adelaide, then camping/moteling with B to Perth and back all went well. B has family in Perth, and we stayed there for a week. Perth is somewhat like California, with a touch of Texas from the mining and drilling economy.

The tall, hardwood trees in SW WA are something worth seeing. The jarrah, karri, malley, and tingle trees are comparable to American redwoods.

Meanwhile, back in my other world, winter doesn’t appear to be as nasty as usual, suggesting that I be ready to battle drought conditions again in the summer. I missed a 16 inch snowfall, though… not.

Sigh… If only everyone could have their own beach with rock formations, crashing waves, and teeming tide pools.

RYN: Thanks, chowing down those lentils and vegetables, now I can eat – I am suffering a rare complication of a nasty bout of campylobacter gsteroenteritis: reactive arthritis. It should all go away and leave me a lone shortly. Still a mystery as to how I got it – no-one else I know who has had it, and our drinking water is the only thing that we can think of but no-one else in the family had it.
