Springs
I’m done with my taxes. I felt awful thinking about doing them, I felt awful doing them, and now that they’re done, I feel icky. Tasteless. It’s OUR business. Not the government’s. I would settle for higher taxes on everything else if income tax would go away. It depresses the masses.
But now it’s spring and my mind is free to wander with it. I can hardly complain about all the recent record setting high temperatures, but I’m sure we’ll pay for it later. There are a lot of moths flying around the house, but hardly any Japanese beetles.
For days the mice begged me and begged me to get off my lazy ass and set all the traps. When I finally did I caught six in one night (a week ago). I haven’t heard one since. It’s like bear hunting, you train them to trust you like a pet before you pull the trigger.
On the negative side of spring, I’ve lost a hubcap, burned out my shop vac, blew up a voltage regulator, got a leak in the bathroom, and there are tax papers lying all over. On the positive side, I’ve got seeds to plant, trees to trim, logs to saw, rocks to move, and dirt to shovel. I’ll get to the really fun projects after those things are done… and I’ve had enough naps.
I guess spring is the time to catch up with all paperwork. It won’t get done in the summer. Note that most of man’s greatest accomplishments happen in places that have winters. It’s because we might as well prefer to be working rather then playing outside in the snow or sleet. I will hand it to people who live in tropical areas around the equator that they probably know how to party better.
Spring also means that the price of gas is going up. $3.95 here. How can the oil monopolies not ratchet it up when the economy might be improving? “Oh! You got a little extra cash? Give it to us!” The house of cards might as well be standing when the big storm hits. I can’t believe anyone would want more drilling or mining in the world at this point in time.
Spring, before the foliage kicks in, isn’t the best time to take pictures, and these woods hardly compare to a sunny beach. I took most of these shots just to mark where some plants are during this historically warm spring.
I don’t have anything planned for the next few months. That feels OK. I’m sure it won’t be long before I’ll wish I had more time.
I’ve always considered income tax a necessity. Maybe it isn’t. I hate it too – except that it’s kind of an annual stock taking. I pay way too little attention to too many things and there for a day or two I have to pay attention to something. Soon.

I hate taxes. Hate hate hate them. I don’t know…it’s too hot to party here in the Summer. You have to wait till the sun goes down, then there’s too many mosquitoes, they actually carry you away and give you to aliens. But that’s a story for another day. ;))))

Tax is everywhere – from income, goods we buy, goods we sell, where we live …. our whole life is one big grab from the tax man. If we looked after each other then we would not need so many taxes. The tax system (IMO) is built on greed. Even death does not escape tax. Good work on getting through the tax papers though. Best wishes, A
