Downpour

We finally got a pouring rain the other evening. Over 65 mm (2.5 inches). The near desert conditions gave way to streams and puddles. Sprinkles occurring in the afternoon before the rain were enough to turn everything into darker, shinier colors… and teased us into going for a drive.

It’s not a real adventure until we get lost in the myriad of dirt roads, and the risk of getting stuck becomes real.

How about some mist?

During a respite in the precipitation, we creepy-crawled through an abandoned farmyard to absorb the ancients’ dreams, wisdom, purity, and common sense. It seems like the past is more refreshing than the future any more. Inside the house were beautifully stenciled wallpapers… defaced by more recent scratchings of profanities by less appreciative visitors.

Further back was this glorious old shed.

How refreshing to feel the rustic workmanship of someone who didn’t have to give a shit about codes.

This is all you have to work with. Deal with it.

As usual, nothing really scary happened to us and we found a highway by heading towards an opening in the clouds.

The next day, we ventured out to one of our favorite parks, Redbanks.

We were greeted by this waterfall. It’s usually just a deep, muddy pit that the kangaroos hang around.

I should have taken a movie, because the sound was so relaxing. Next time. By midweek we’ll in heading to the sheep station for a week. Merry Christmas!!!
