Westward
I’m in Phoenix right now with BFF for a few days before I join B in OZ. I managed (with a vice grips on a brake hose) to get B to LAX in time for her flight. Our drive across the Rocky Mountains was worth the effort. Driving around Los Angeles is another story. Driving across the plains states is a torchure I won’t illustrate. Here’s our first peak outside of Colorado Springs.
We stopped for lunch at the Royal Gorge, which should be named Royal Gouge because it’s just another natural wonder commercialized to exclude the general, viewing public. Don’t even bother to read all the billboards. I will post of picture of the continental divide, which was colder than Wisconsin was.
Here’s some pinnacles that match the foreground’s grass.
When we entered Utah, we stopped to take in some of the local art talent.
There is something about vast stretches of jagged and empty terrain. Perhaps it is a feeling of ownership, simply because nobody else is there.
…and there are places that make us feel very small.
We had a couple magical days that whenever we needed something, all of them would instantly go “Poof”.
“Let’s look for a motel, Dear.”
“Poof!”
“We could use a hardware store, Honey.”
“Poof!”
“How about a Walmart?”
“Poof!”
I did make one great observation during B’s visit. When she snores, the rodents in the attic are very quiet. I can only surmise that snoring really is quite functional and is the result of endless genetic selection. Tell that to your spouse. Rebuke your doctor with it.

Late fall is a nice time to travel because there isn’t too much traffic. Not many RV’s.
When we entered California, the mountains became hills covered with growth.
The ground became flatter near Los Angeles.
…and we finally reached the ocean.
Recognize this from Baywatch? Only in California?
And so it was time for B to board her plane. Here’s a sunset, and note the plane flying west across the Pacific. There’s some guilt for burning so much fuel… but it is so romantic.
THANKS for your note. I just did two “similar” but not exactly the same (tha’ts against od rules lol), entries. One is for public –only private notes. The other is favs /friends only. So anyone on favs list can leave PUBLIC notes while the hecklers can leave only private notes. The entry is about the truth of ows…an anti ows entry. Please read when you have a chance and comment ,if you want publicly. Thanks. much.

lol the scenery is BEAUTIFUL, but the only part of the drive that didn’t scare me was the trees lol . I imagine if you do that drive alone that could be eirry (unless you pack WOW video cams and cameras to record the visit through the natural lands. ) LOoks like you had a great trip.

And I thought the drive through the mountains to Montreal was “empty”, rocks on both sides. What in the world does one do there (in that kind of space ) if the car breaks down?
