Back from uni

Having an amazing time at uni. I’m so amazingly happy there. I miss all of my friends SO SO much and my family even more (and regret SO much that I didn’t see Henry before I left but I will soon…i have to) but I’ve made some real good friends there and it’s great. My room is pretty big and quite nice. I’ve made it my own with pictures of everyone (but I don’t have a recent one of you Henry so email me one purlease if you want to feature on my ‘cool people’ section of my pinbpard). I’ve decorated it with brown and duck egg blue accesories and I got a new brown lamp last week. It’s football shaped and made of straw. Well smart.

I’ve changed courses though. hah. I was doign ophthalmic dispensing and now I’m doing optical management. Ophthalmics you have to do the stuff I want but also some modules in biomedical sciences. Which is REALLY cool and I’d love to do it but it’s a lot harder and less useful than what I’m now doing. Optical Management is optics joint with business. So I get to do law in small businesses and economics and stuff like that which isn’t nearly as fun but very handy if I want to run my own opticians.

Also, been talking to my lecturer about the future. I had planned to do 3 years of Opthalmics to become a dispensing optician then go on to do optometry to become the type that actually tests your eyes but I’ve decided I might not. There are hardly any people becoming dispensing oticians so the salaries are rising. eg 2 graduates from last year – one became optometrist starting salary £21000 one became dispensing starting salary £23000. Now, don’t think I’m basing this on just themoney. I’d love to be a dispensing – it didn’t really bother me which I became but I went for optometrist because I get my own room and my name on the door hehe and I’d get MOptom after my name which just sounds WELL COOL. But, this is more money and 3 less years at uni and I can always go back to uni (like a woman who is in my class) and do optometry after a few years of dispensing. Meh, I’ll decide at the end of the course but…for now dispensing is where it ends I reckon.

My laptop is being fixed so I should have it back nxt week then I’ll be back for real. It’s 1am now. I just got back from meeting a couple of friends (emily little ingy phil) coz I’m home for the weekend but I have work tomorrow so I should head off I guess.

Feels weird to see OD. I feel really out of place on the boards now coz I haven’t been there in so long and have missed so much. I’ll get back into it when I have my laptop at uni tho 🙂
