My Laughter Cries
You took me deep into the woods that day. Beyond my suffocating
Dreamworld lay the glorious trees, the fern, the bugs.
Magnificent, shadowing chestnuts delighted. Overtook me. Pink candyfloss.
Those striped, giant dummies hanging from the caravan’s
Hatch beckoned me and poisoned me and the spinning
And the screaming of the little ones and the minders
Deafening and enthralling. I was dancing.
My toes, on end, burning from the weight on my ankles, were
lifting me. I was spinning. First position, i thought, slow bend
into a sashay and a sudden leap, lands me on the floor. Im hurt.
A pas seul.
You left me on this desert island.
Im surrounded by the luscious, evil waves.
I’m stranded and trapped and free in this wonderment and
Hell of a paradise. The sun, the sea, the sand.
Sometimes, I see I’m blind. With my fairy lights glowing,
The sky, the leaves, the circle ablaze,
You left me in the dark. You took me deeper and deeper,
All the way into those woods, that day.And here
I am. Alone. On my brilliant white cloud of thunder and rain.
You see now, you don’t like it, but I’m sure anybody who reads it will be sitting here in awe… [Steve]
