 Just a real quick update:

I haven’t been feeling too bad this past week.  I still get tired but I don’t think I went down for a nap at all this week, so hopefully, that’s a good sign.  I spend a little more time on my feet each day – though there are days I still have a tough time with it.  Yesterday my left calf muscle kept trying to spasm – very frustrating.

Today is kind of a different story.  It’s raining.  That means the arthritis has kicked up and all my joints are screaming at me.  So, today, it will be mostly a sit-down day.

I’ve been spending my mornings on facebook visiting with my cousin.  She only lives one town away but neither of us have the money to spend in gas to visit in person.  She’s suffering from Leukemia, has Fibromyalgia, Siliac’s disease and a few other problems that put her in pretty bad shape, health-wise and strength-wise.  She’s a single Mom to a 13 yr old boy and lives with her elderly parents.  On good days she’s up and about doing whatever she can to keep busy but the winter months take their toll on her.  Her favorite passive activity has been playing "FarmTown."  She turned me on to the game about a year ago but I had quit playing it for a while.  When I signed onto my facebook account last week, I saw she was on and we started chatting it up.  Since then, I’ve been playing the game with her, keeping her company and doing my best to make her laugh.

I’ll have to make a point of getting out there to see her next month.  This month, as is all January months, is a tough one for us to get through financially and I just can’t do it right now.

My birthday was nice.  We didn’t do anything special, just sat around the house and enjoyed each others company.  Cathy baked me a cake – which I couldn’t eat since my sugar was kind of up that day – but everyone said it was delicious and I had them save me a piece to eat the next day.  Wesley was getting really bored, having got burned out from playing his games since Christmas, so I went out to the dollar store and bought him some craft supplies.  I bought him some popsicle sticks, glue, paint, fuzzy balls and pipe cleaners.  He sat for hours at the table making stuff that he later brought to me and said, "Here, Mommy.  Here’s a cup holder for your coffee cup."

* He had glued the sticks together into a shallow box and then glued fuzzy balls all around the top rim to decorate it.  It’s really cute and don’t even look functional but it’s a lot stronger than it looks.  ðŸ™‚  I use it every day.

With my cup.

And then Cathy decided to join him in the craft making process and made a Kitty Trinket box.

With the box opened…

Aren’t they cute??  ðŸ™‚

Later that evening, my sister, Mel, called and we chatted for a couple of hours.  Most of it was spent laughing – so that was fun.  Then Mom called and I think I was on the phone with her for another hour.  Mom had given us a gift card for Red Lobster and wanted to know if Hubby took me out for dinner.  I had to tell her no.  This has been a tough week for him and I didn’t want to ask him to sacrifice his resting time.  He would have had to change the pants and boot on his prosthetic leg and that can be a real pain in the butt.  For some reason his good boot don’t fit the prosthetic foot as well as his work boots do and it usually takes both of us to change it.  I assured her we’d go soon.

So, yeah, it was a nice birthday.  ðŸ™‚

I wasn’t able to make it to Mass last Sunday.  I was up all night dealing with various teenage drama problems that, thankfully, were all fully resolved by the wee hours of the morning, but unfortunately, it meant there was no way I could get up early enough to make it to Mass on time.  I don’t know what it is with these kids that they always seem to choose the late hours of the evening to bring their problems to me, but at least they talk to me and don’t keep things bottled up – which I’m thankful for.

That’s pretty much it.  Not exciting but, not much is around here these days.

It’s so dreary and dark out right now that it almost seems like night.  I hate days like this.  Makes me want to sleep.

Be well, my friends.

Until next time…

Happy late birthday!

That is absolutely wonderful that the kids can come to you with their problems — so many teenagers won’t do that nowadays. That is a special bond there! =oD Have a wonderful day, sweet Sister!!
