I need a watch….

 …with an hourly timer.  πŸ™‚

It’s Tuesday and I feel pretty good.  I like saying that..

I feel pretty GOOD.  πŸ™‚

I’ve decided it’s time – over time actually – that I make some changes.  It’s going to be a struggle but, heck, I’m the queen of Mt. Struggle, so I should do pretty good, right?  Haha!

"God helps them who help themselves."  Remember our parents telling us that?  There’s a lot of truth in it, too.  I mean, who are we to sit back and just expect God to grant our prayers?  Sure, he’s a very good and merciful God who loves us with an infinite love.  BUT, he’s also a "just" God who balances his mercy with justice.  Therefore, if we hope to receive his blessings and graces, we must work towards that end by doing all we can for ourselves and then leave the rest up to him.  It’s only right and fair (just).

I’ll be the first to tell you that although I have very good organizational skills, I’ve fallen off the wagon when it comes to actually putting them into action.  Several years of limited mobility, pain and health issues have had a bad effect on me.  It has gotten so bad that, many days, I really have to question if it’s my health or my will that needs improving.

So, starting today, I’ve decided to make some changes.  Here’s my rough draft list:

  • Go to bed at the same time every night – or at least six nights per week – no matter how tired or not tired I am.
  • Wake up at the same time every single morning no matter what.
  • Drink 6 ounces of water, once every hour of the day.
  • Eat breakfast at the same time every morning – not forgetting my diabetes meds.
  • Make out a weekly menu that the whole family can enjoy and one which will improve my husband’s health and not interfere with my diabetes.
  • Since I have three kids home all day, all the time, now…Fix Breakfast and Lunch every day for the family.
  • Do my best to do as much housework as I am able that day.
  • Fix dinner at the same time every evening – not forgetting my diabetes meds.
  • Try to walk every day – a little farther each week.
  • Remember to keep a good record of my glucose levels two hours after every meal.

I believe that’s a pretty good start.  If, after doing all these for at least a month, I don’t begin to feel better and stronger, then I’ll know it’s not due to my own fault and I’ll have to look into finding out what else could possibly be wrong with me.

I’ve called my doctor’s office, too, to see if I can set up a consultation with him about getting me in rehab.  I think if I could do Rehabilitation about three days a week for a month or so, it will do much to help build my strength and improve my mobility.  I’m just waiting for the nurse to call me back.

When our income taxes come in, I’ll stock up on the important vitamins I had us on at the beginning of the year.

  • Vitamin D3 – 1-2000 IU per day
  • Ester-C 1000 mg – once a day
  • Cal-Mag-Zinc Vitamin two times a day
  • Krill Fish Oil three times a day
  • L-Arganine 5 mg once day for Hubby

So, this is why I need to get a watch with an hourly timer.  I’m all about schedules and lists and order.  By having an hourly timer, I’ll be able to remember to drink my water, take my meds, check my glucose, eat at the right times, keep up with everyone else’s schedules and turn it all into habit.  Once it’s a daily habit, I won’t need the schedule anymore – it will all just come naturally.

Oh, and by the way, this is NOT a New Years resolution.  I was never in the habit of making them before and I’m not about to start now.

Of course, if you want to call this one, I won’t stop you as long as you remember I’ve officially not named it so.  Heeheehee!

I HAVE to get control of my health, and, God Willing, I’ll do it this year.  After-all, I have to start thinking about being the bread winner in the family.  *gulp*  Scaaaarrryy….

Until next time, be well, smile often and love thy neighbor as you’d have them love you.  πŸ™‚

I am glad you feel good and are setting goals… I lawys have to have goals for myself… I have walked to work every day this month (6 miles round trip) which isn’t bad considering I have to leave at 6:20 a.m to get to work by 7…

Does your microwave not have a timer you can set without cooking? That would be the answer. Be well, my friend.

Praying your health continues to improve and you’re going to do just great as the bread winner in the family! Remember – God helps those who help themselves! ;o) RYN: You are so very right. I spoke to him about it last night and it wasnt’ well received at all, but at least he knows where I stand on it, and God’s house is NOT the place for a slumber party! >:( Have a wonderful daysweetie!! Organization is the key and you’ve got a good start. One thing I used to do was plan two weeks worth of menus, buy all the ingredients, then I was ready to cook when I got home from work and didn’t have to stop at the store or worse, go back to the store. It was relatively easy to cook a balanced meal for my family.

This is a good start to a good start!

SO thankful you feel good! HaPpY nEw YeAr to you sweet friend!

You can do it. I have been the major bread winner of the family for years. Once Art’s business takes off, I will be less so. We are getting there.
