Christmas Eve Stinks?
Well, for us it does.
We’re looking for a snake.
Not the slithering, forked tongue type, but, the metal, "rotor-rootering" type.
Our basement has turned into a cesspool of stinking sewage backup. Isn’t that a lovely Christmas gift?
The smell wafting up through the air vents when the furnace came on this morning, is what woke me up at 4:30 AM.
The living room is filled with the scent of a nauseating mixture of cinnamon and sewage.
I have to wait until 9:00 AM before I can start making phone calls.
We have no money to hire someone to help us fix it. Hubby is feeling weak this morning and can hardly get around. He almost fell getting out of bed.
When I checked my glucose this morning, it was very low. I had the shakes. I forced myself to eat some breakfast. It was a difficult task, let me tell you. I feel sick to my stomach now – hoping I can keep my food down.
I wonder…., Did the Manger smell bad on the night Jesus was born? It was an animal shelter, after all. Filled with beasts of burden that poo in their stalls. I’m sure our Blessed Mother did what she could to tidy the place up, but still, it HAD to have stunk pretty bad.
He slept in a feeding trough filled with hay for padding. (a symbol of how he’d one day become the bread of life – the Holy Eucharist)
Still, it too, had to have stunk. I guess we’re not alone in that respect. 🙂
So, this too, I guess, I’ll be thankful for. But, like Mary, I’m going to have to try to do something about it. What exactly, I’m not sure, but something has to be done before it becomes dangerous.
The great snake hunt will start in about 45 minutes….
Later, we’ll be visiting the in-laws. Their house smells good. 🙂
Have a peaceful Christmas Eve, my friends, and please think of our dear Lord, who was born on this Blessed night.
Yuck! I’m sorry.. Well I hope you have luck getting it fixed! Merry Christmas

Oh gosh…could you call and ask if anyone local would be willing to let you pay payments for the work done? I’m sorry this year has been so difficult. Praying for you and your family to have peace and the Lord’s hand over you all this coming year. Merry Christmas.

I’m so sorry. You are right. It probably did stink in the stable. Just shows He came for everone, no matter how lowly.

My heart is aching for you. Hope you found a snake, and that it was attached to a strong male who was helping you out and not charging you. This is my prayer for you.
