I could have bought you a card that someone else wrote
But it’s not my style to steal love notes
While I very nearly found you a rose
I’ll let my own words stand for themselves.

A real rose does not need another…
I thought it might be enough to say
That for once
I had someone to think of today.

They say that today is for making memories
That is what I aim to do
