Hundred-Sixty-Three: You Are Suggesting…

With heaviness in her heart, she graced the corridors with a familiar emotion. Trying to fight the urge to act on her instincts, she tried to find distractions but it was no avail. She sat her sights on someone to take to the lake secretly.

“Come here young Hufflepuff, what is your name?” She enchanted.

“Kevin….Kevin Whitby, Miss Delacour,” He smiled nervously.

“Would you like to hear me sing?” She questioned seductively.

“Oh yes ma’am. I heard you at the Yule ball. It was so beautiful. It was as if your voice took me to another deminison.” He spit out.

“You really like it? Then meet me by the lake at midnight. I’ll give you your own personal show,” She whispered in his ear an d whipped her cloak around.

Sitting inside his chambers, Dumbledore waited the arrival of his guest. He had been stressed lately and knew that it was time for an intervention. With a faint knock on the door, he grew a smile.

“Ah yes, Merlin. I’ve been expecting you!” Dumbledore said as he stuck out his hand. “We have fought many wars against the dark arts, haven’t we?”

“Yes. My old bones are starting to get worn.” Merlin grabbed his backside as if in pain.

“As are mine. I sent an owl for your presence for a reason. You may be aware that I harbor a handful of veelas here at Hogwarts,” Dumbledore stated matter-of-factly.

“Yes, old friend. I have come across many over the centuries. If trained correctly, they can be quite the seductress.” Merlin chuckled.

“Yes, yes indeed. They’re mostly harmless but when emotional, I have one that can….” Dumbledore hesitated to answer. “She isn’t evil by many means. She’s just guarded and…”

“No need to explain, Albus,” Merlin waved his hand. “But what do you need with my great-grandson?”

“It’s complicated. See, Ms. Delacour…”

“Delacour? You mean to tell me she is a descendant of Jewell? Ah Dumbledore, this sounds like a heap of trouble.”

“Well Merlin, I remember you were immune to their advances so I figured he would be as well. I will let the sorting hat be placed on his head and he will be a part of the student body. I think the students could learn from him.” Dumbledore explained.

“Where does my great-grandson come into all of this?” Merlin questioned.

“I need a male to mentor her. I need a male who won’t be under her spell. I need one with a pure heart and the best of intentions. Right now, she is having complications with her vampire lover, and when affairs of the heart are involved, my students are in grave danger.” Dumbledore sighed. “I know I could send her to Askaban but I cannot when this girl cannot control it – it is not her fault!”

“indeed, Dumbledore. I don’t think you will have much concern with him. He is…not gifted in the lady department if you know what I mean. Perhaps many are intimidated or he may be too powerful for his own good. He is not used to hanging out with peers his age.”Merlin informed.

“I know dear friend. You declined my letter I sent many years ago for him to be a young student.”

“That was different times Albus. I had to protect him from the dark arts. Unfortunately, I lost my daughter and son-in-law but I managed to save Merlin!”

“Ah yes, I forgot he is named after you. He will thrive just fine here. I thank you!” Dumbledore stated. “Do you want to stay for the induction ceremony?”

“Oh please! We both know he is going to be a Gryffindor like the great Harry Potter!”

“We’ll see, Merlin!”
