Hundred-Thirty-Eight: What’s Her Problem?

Told from Colin’s POV

Thanksgiving was arriving soon and I had so many contemplations. With Jazmine and my new relationship, it left me wondering if I should go to her house in France or if she should go to mine in Great Britain. So many choices. Of course if I were to go to France, I could spend more time with Tan-Tan.

“Go to England, Colin!” I could hear Tanya in my head. I suddenly began to chuckle.

”Fine…I know you don’t want Jazmine invading your quality time.”

“What’s so funny?” Jazmine asked coming up from behind me.

“Oh nothing…” I said still trying to keep my laughter in. Sometimes I wondered why I couldn’t read her thoughts, or even Fleurs. What is it Tanya? Or better yet: who could read Jazmines?

“Hey let’s go have a evening away from school,” I suggested as we both headed to town.

Told from Kaden’s POV

I walked Kayleen to the Hogwarts door but she seemed troubled.

“You don’t want to go, do you?” I asked as I folded my arms. “Story of my life,” I felt like complaining. “I find someone I half way like and you blow me off.” I began to walk away.

“It’s not that I don’t want to go with you, Kaden, it’s just Cedric will get mad at me.” She suddenly began to get clammed up and shy.

“Kayleen, there comes a time in life when you have to branch out and live for yourself.” I suddenly felt like my age was showing. “Live life for you and don’t worry about what others think of you. If Cedric gets mad at you for hanging out with someone he doesn’t know, he that is his business.”

Kayleen walked over to the Great Hall table and sat down. She seemed to be soaking in what I was telling her. I guess I forgot what it was like to be at the age of 16 and still being naïve.

“You’re a vampire, Kaden. Don’t you get it?” She looked at me in the eyes.

“No…..” I trailed off. “Are we suddenly prejudice against vampires? Man! I thought you were different!” I lashed out. “I have not dated someone who wasn’t a vampire in almost a century because the last woman I tried to get serious with, couldn’t handle it and ran away with a half-blood. Look Kayleen, if you don’t like vampires….just say it!” I was beginning to get frustrated.

“It’s not that, Kaden. I do like you! Let me put this into perspective for you….do you remember when you first came to Hogwarts? You didn’t want anyone knowing you were a vampire so you wore prosthetic teeth and when night came, you got really anxious…”

“How do you know that?”

“Your brother told me. I was asking him about your character.” She replied.

“He told you ALL of that? That little…when I get my hands on him!”

“Wait. Let me finish….you and Tanya almost had a thing for each-other, right? You were ashamed of the fact that you were a vampire and didn’t want her to know. You knew the chaos it would bring into her life….so you hid it from her…well, what if I have my own secret?”

“Kayleen, you are not a vampire. Trust me! I would know.” I began to laugh out loud?

“I’m not a vampire….I have to go!” She ran off.

Suddenly, Cedric came behind me.

“What’s wrong with her?” He asked.

“Nothing dude. I just…thought I liked her but I take it the Diggory clan is against my kind.” I wanted to become hostile but knew Tanya would kill me if I did.

“It’s not that, dude. I’m protective of her for reasons that she’ll have to tell you but soon enough you’ll know and thank me for it” Cedric walked away.
