One-Hundred-Fourteen: Tournament News
You’ll Be Chosen
Told from Zeke’s Point of View
This is my first trip to the Muggle World since the 19th century. Much has changed. There were cars, electricity, and buildings. The world no longer relied on candlelight to see. It was a humbling experience. I had to follow Kaden’s scent to find him. With the expansion of technology also came the growth of the cities. I hope I can find him in time. Still yet, my thoughts are also concentrated on being back home to Tanya. I don’t trust the students there. In fact, for reasons I can’t explain, can’t say I trust her either.
It was a true burden to not have my running powers. I felt like time was ticking much slower than usual. Finding Kaden manually was taking longer than I had anticipated. I just hope that I could arrive in time. In the letter, my owl Midnight said that the Antilights were after Kaden and Anastasia. There was only one place I knew to look: in the deep towers of a French castle. Getting in there would be the challenge.
Told from Ordinary Point of View
I awoke abruptly to the sound of the bells ringing, informing student it was almost time to be prepared for class. Today was rather different, however. Dumbledore had to call a special assembly to order.
“Good morning, Hogwarts student and staff. It has come to my attention that a tournament will have to be held this year for Hogwarts. Three male and three female will be chosen later today based on their intellectual abilities, their physiological abilities, and their reasoning abilities. This special tournament is much different than the Tri-wizard tournament. There can only be one male and one female to win. The puzzles and strengths performed in this will mold your wizarding abilities. The six students chosen should be very prideful of themselves and not take winning too lightly. With that, let me note that it does not matter which house you come from. This is not a test of the sorting hats knowledge but what lies inside your heart. You are dismissed. That is all I can tell you. I know that many are still confused of this tournament but I cannot say anymore.” Dumbledore clapped his hands together and dismissed all students.
I had no interest in attending the tournament, and I hope that Harry or Zeke didn’t either. However, it seems unavoidable that Harry would be. Maybe he won’t this time.
“I have no idea what that is about, do you?” Harry asked, putting his arm around me without thinking we were in public. I quickly brushed it off.
“Not here.” I whispered as he agreed. “But to answer your question, I have no idea. I just hope that we are not to be chosen. I am too tired.” I said, slumping down in my seat in Herbology.
“Yeah me too but if we are, we must take this seriously. It seems important somehow.” Harry got lost into his thoughts. I didn’t know what else to say. This is his type of thing: to win at everything, though he doesn’t want to. Maybe he’ll get a break this time.
“Harry – what if I said I didn’t want you to participate this time?” I questioned. He seemed to want to laugh but I continued. “This is so unhealthy. You need to live life.”
He sighed. “Stop it, Delacour. Don’t try to take care of me now.” Harry retrieved all his books and went to set in his seat. I looked back at him and laughed. He was so uptight. Colin walked into the classroom without even looking at me. As much as I wanted to get angry with him, I couldn’t. I wasn’t being a very good friend and I don’t blame him for finally having a breaking point. Still yet, I waved.
After all classes were over and it was time for dinner, Dumbledore once again had an announcement. I wasn’t sure if I was liking this man much anymore. He seemed to always be the bearer of bad news.
“Well good evening students. I hope that you’ve had a day of reflection of excitement for the recent news I bestowed upon you. I deliberated with the faculty and stuff much today and it has came to the conclusion that we have chosen our students. This is based on their talents of the mind, body, and logic reasoning. I will be happy to announce the females first. Due to her ability to logically and scientifically solve any problem put forth to her, it is among our greatest delight to welcome Hermione Granger to the tournament.” Dumbledore pointed toward the Gryffindor table as everyone cheered for Hermione. She became red in the face but seemed honored at the same time. “Next, we have chosen a young lady based on her quirkiness, intelligence, and eccentric personality. She may win the tournament with her ability to stand out in the crowd. Though she may be distracted by her brothers unfortunate accident, it still still to my pleasure to announce Ms. Luna Lovegood.” Dumbledore pointed at the Ravenclaw table as everyone cheered again. I was beginning to get very happy with just one spot left.
“Last but not least. We have a student who is strong-willed, independent, and will not stop until she gets anything she ever desires. Smart, beautiful, and socially intelligent we have -” Dumbledore paused for dramatic effect. “Ms. Tanya Delacour!”
The students did not clap on that one. I raised my head to look up. The students were staring at me. “Me?” I gasped. Dumbledore nodded. The students looked frightened as I smiled nervously. I would argue with him later but not right now.
“As for the males….”
RYN: Oo thank you! Obviously I do as well. 😀
