23 weeks 3 days

It is the middle of July.

That means that even if this baby girl is one whole week "late" to arrive, in 4 months I will have a baby.

Sometimes I think about how fast a day goes, and a week, and a month (like, um, June? It was gone in a flash. And July has barely been here and it’s already on it’s way out the door), and I’m terrified! I’m going to have a baby so soon!  I know some women talk about how pregnancy goes so slow and drags on…I am not one of those women! It is going SO FAST.

I’m excited to meet this little girl, of course, but I just feel like I have so much to do before then! I still need to find a groomer to take over for me. I have a couple of different people that I am going to be calling in the next few days to set up an interview, and they both sound promising, so that’s good. It’s just such a worry all the time, having a business with a baby on the way. I mean, what if we have dogs booked out for a couple of weeks and my groomer up and quits on me just before/after the baby is born? Worst things have happened, it could totally happen!

I know I’ve said it a thousand times, but I’ll say it again- I worry too much. I know I cannot worry about this stuff until it happens, but I can’t seem to stop myself.

There’s really not THAT much else to do before the baby is born, though. It just feels like so much and so little time. My house is messy and I’m convinced it’s going to be a disaster when the baby is born and I stress about that (writing this out is actually helping me realize how MUCH I stress and how silly/pointless/harmful it is).

But we don’t have much to buy at all. It’s actually hard for me to think of things. I would like to get an Ergo or similar carrier. We have an Arms Reach and a Pack and Play in case I sometimes want to have the baby next to the bed and not in the bed. We’re good on receiving blankets and things like that, and I have the feeling we’ll receive more anyway. I would still like to find the perfect outfit to bring her home in, but we already have enough newborn clothes. We probably have enough until she’s 3 months old, and we already have a lot of 3-12 months clothes as well. I might want to get a changing pad to lay on the top of her dresser. If I find a good deal on a glider I might get one but I don’t necessarily need one. I have enough newborn diapers and then something possessed me to buy like 7 more so I’m REALLY good on newborn diapers now. I’ve started stocking up on bigger/one size diapers so that I don’t have to immediately start selling off newborns to get larger ones as she grows out of them. I got the car seat (Graco MyRide65 on sale for $80…I snatched that one up!), we have a stroller for me to take her to work in as she gets a little older and Jonathan’s sister got us a jogging stroller as well. I need to get a boppy, and a diaper pail. That’s all I can really think of.

I’m trying to hold off on buying some of the things because there are people who I know will buy gifts and when they ask what we need, I’d like to be able to tell them something, so at this point I’m just kind of sitting and waiting. Except when it comes to diapers.

I can’t believe this tiny human will be here in less than 4 months. She still barely seems real to me in so many ways. When she starts kicking and flipping around it’s still so crazy to me and it seems like the first time every time still. The other night she had her arms and legs going and was wiggling all over and I was just in awe.

We need a name! Aughhhh! That’s one of the biggest things that needs to be done. I don’t want to pick the final name until we see her but I also don’t want a 5 day old with no name!

I’m still very small. People who see me on a very frequent basis are beginning to figure it out but to most people, I just look like I have a beer gut. When I look in the mirror I usually have one of two responses, either- "Holy cow, I am pregnant!" or "Have I really even grown at all?" squinting in the mirror trying to make out the pregnant belly. It’s definitely bigger, though. I cut myself shaving the "bikini area" today because I couldn’t see/reach all that great, so things are definitely changing, LOL.

I’ve been in lots and lots of pain but I’ve been going to a chiropractor 1-2 times a week. Expensive but so helpful, I can actually sleep now! I was waking up with cold pains and tingling down my arms and legs every half hour.

Ok, I need to go clean up a bit before I sink into this chair for the rest of the night.

I wish I would have thought about going to see a chiro when I was pregnant. I had horrible back and rib pain. I was the same with pregnancy flying. I was 4 days overdue when I had her and it still flew! And here I am with an almost one year old, it does not ever stop flying. I highly recommend if you are not getting a glider to get a rocking chair of some sort. It has been a lifesaver with a fussybaby. She loves to nurse while I am rocking her to this day. We didn’t bother with a crib either which I am very thankful for. She would never even sleep in the arms reach cosleeper or pack n play and still wont so she sleeps in our bed, most of the time nursing while I hold her. But it’s the only way I get any kind of sleep so it works. It’s so hard not to worry about every little thing but sounds like you are as prepared as you can be for right now. You have way more stuff than I did at 23 weeks!

Other than the very small part, I so could have written this last July! lol And we were the same with buying stuff. There were things I -wanted- but nothing I -needed-, and I wanted to leave as much for people to buy for us, because I didn’t have many ideas! My finally-been-there-done-that advice is to make sure you have witch hazel at home for afterwards. I figured I wouldn’t need it, and suffered for two weeks. After I finally picked some up and had it on my perineum and the stitches, within a day, I felt SO much better. I also wish I’d stocked up on more easy food. We didn’t eat nearly enough in the first few weeks post-birth. If people want something to buy- I would totally suggest they buy you gift cards for places that deliver! lol Oh, and fnatastic deal on the myride! That’s what we have, and I love it!

I think pregnancy goes FAST too! I’m due in 4 weeks and can hardly believe it. Sounds like you are pretty organized. I’m at the point now where I just clean/organize stuff almost every day because I’m worried my house will be a disaster or I will forget to do something I really wanted to do before baby gets here!
