Meeting Hayley and Mexico
I met Hayley (surmonter.) on Friday night because she happened to be in a town about 30 minutes from me. I was SO excited when I found out- we’ve been wanting to meet forever! She was one of the first people I met on OD, so we’ve known each other for at least 6-7 years.
It was awesome! I told Jonathan afterwards that it wasn’t at all like meeting a stranger and getting to know her- it was just my friend Hayley, who I’ve known for years, but this time, she was physically standing there in front of me. I wish even more now that we lived closer to each other, because I would love to hang out more. We had a great time, talking about very random stuff that was mostly all hilarious and/or dirty. We also had a crazy encounter with some pastors in the hallway of the hotel, everyone just couldn’t stop laughing, until a hotel employee came up to scold us (it was like 1 am!) and tell us to get out of the hallway. Ooooops…haha.
I got to meet her friend Kylie and her boyfriend, Mike, as well, and it was really cool to meet not only Hayley but a couple of the really important people in her life.
I completely forgot to take any pictures. 🙁
I’m heading to Mexico in less than a week, and I’m very excited but probably equally stressed out/nervous. We have so little money that leaving right now is a little terrifying. I’m just trying to remember that there’s nothing I can do between now and then, and I just need to focus on getting ready and getting things in order before I go. The food keeps me excited, though, I can’t wait to EAT there, of all things. Real Mexican food, in Mexico, is so amazingly good.
I’m still loving work, like truly loving it. I haven’t had a bad day yet. I leave every day happy, and wake up every morning not feeling the slightest bit depressed that I have to go back. It feels like we’re just 4 friends, who happen to meet every day to groom dogs in the same room. It just feels like such a family- everyone is really close, and we all bring our dogs in and they play while we work. It’s also awesome being independent, because if there aren’t any dogs ready for me, I can just be like, "I’m leaving for a while". The other day I was desperately needing some retail therapy to get out of the funk I was in, so I left work like an hour after getting there to run to Target for a while, and doing stuff like that is never a problem, because all I’m there to do is groom, and if there’s nothing to groom, there’s no reason I need to be in there. I’m technically not responsible for anything else- cleaning, handling the phone, etc, but I help out with all of those things anyway. It’s an awesome feeling knowing that I don’t have to, though. It’s so much different than working at a corporation where they required hours of busywork to make it look like you were doing something.
Plus, if I have a dog that’s just terrible, I have the power to tell them to raise the price before the dog comes back. That’s something that never would have happened at Petsmart.
The newest furry addition to our lives, Thomas:
He showed up on the doorstep one day. It’s a terribly blurry picture, I know. He’s a little love.
I love meeting fellow OD’ers! I had Tinkymama standing in my living room once and sat there going “Sarah is in my living room. This is so weird, she normally lives in my computer” LOL

That’s so cool you two met up! I only just started reading her relatively recently… like the past five months or so? I still can’t believe I met Ezzy on here, feels like I’ve always known her in person! And I can pride myself by saying I’ve been to every major event her life… wedding, birth, and her son’s birthdays!
