Catcher In The Rye A Poem By Me

Just like Holden Caulfield
I want to run away from it all
I want to shut all the phoniness out
I want to go to Cali and see
All that there is to see
Except my brother isn’t out there

Just like Holden Caulfield
I want to mess with someones mind
Even if she is a prostitute I call
From the pay phone at midnight
In New York City
I want it all to end

Just like Holden Caulfield
I hate my life
I hate the dreams
That get smashed along the way
I want it not to hurt
that bad anymore

I want to be just like
Not just like
Not even close
to Holden Caulfield
I want to be just like the girl
I want to be just like Sonja

One of my favorite books of all time is “Catcher In the Rye.” I don’t know why I wrote a poem a year after I read the book. But I felt inspiried today. Thinking of how much sometimes I feel just like Holden Caulfield.
