BIRTHDAY RAM

217.2 lbs — upset tummy the either day. Giving myself a few days for things to settle.

I get to upgrade Compy Comp Deluxe, The First (Canadian Edition)‘s RAM for my birthday! I only found out this was possible about fifteen minutes ago.
There I was managing my computer’s hard drive partitions when I thought about the computer’s memory. I exited out of the hard drive utility app and went to the top-left of my computer:
I clicked –> About this Mac
where I clicked on –> More info
I navigated to the Memory tab and saw:
I HAVE TWO FREE SLOTS. I had also been researching Windows 7 memory limitations. I have the stupid 32-bit ver and want the 64-bit so it can access ALL THE MEMORY… only to realise I wasn’t giving myself all the memory. Apple lets me upgrade my RAM? Take a look in the bottom-right… a link for instructions on how to do just that, warranty intact! Clicked –> Memory Upgrade Instructions
It opened up that browser and I clicked –> iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011 edition)
LO! An official apple walkthrough on how to install more RAM! Now to check the prices on this specific RAM… http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX42987 HAHAH! YES! ~$78+tax for another 8GB RAM.
This makes me think my fiancee’s brother could upgrade her computer’s RAM too, for cheap. I will make this a possibility for her.
With the 64-bit Windows 7 OS I have coming for my birthday, having access to 16GB RAM will be AWESOME, for both Mac and Win performance!
PS. I remember when I got 4 Megabytes of RAM worth $100 back in the early 1990s. Now I can get literally two-thousand more megabytes for the same price, and it would have matched the computer’s CPU speed of… 33 Mhz. Yes. The current RAM I have is 1300 Mhz faster or ~40 times as fast. That’s 2000 times the ram at 40 times the speed — mind you $100 back then would be more like $162 today. Still… progress, when measured like that, is ridiculous. Absolutely insane.
