Poem: 2 Years Gone

2 Years Gone

2 years gone
Since you left
A life of pain

2 years gone
Since parting;
2 years ago today.

You are certainly missed;
Your smile genuine and true —
It still hurts to think about it
But we still love you.

The days are still long
And nights sometimes longer —
While wondering if you’re really out there;
Still hating life’s robber.

Disease took you years before
The night time took you sunder;
Tonight the candle burns for you,
As you sleep forever under.

For my father that was taken from us on February 9th, 2012 after an arduous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. — jj
