Holocaust Moments
Agonizingly reaching down from my bunk to yours,
we clutched through the sorrow and suffering.
Human tactile touch eased the numbness.
My bleak tortured, meaningless life
was momentarily, albeit briefly, soothed.
Through the anguished misery,
you were my temporary lifeline.
Our broken and battered bodies
that could hardly endure, felt
a moment’s respite pulsing through
our shrunken souls.
I clung to your hand, for its beauty
provided unfathomable solace.
No words were needed.
No words are needed now.
