Eff Turkey!

I am soooo not in the mood for November this year. I love Christmas, and I am ready for it to be Christmas season NOW. Halloween wasn’t very exciting, Ross came with us to trick or treat and he’s sort of a downer and hates crowds, and since we live in ALASKA and there’s a half a foot of snow on the ground already, it was frigid and dark and all the indoor Trick or Treat locations were jam packed with people.. which is not a good combination of things for Ross, at all. Plus, yanno what? He really doesn’t like kids.

In any event, we went to the mall and to my mom’s best friend’s place (we go there every year, they go all out with spooky music and flashing lights and fog machine in their driveway…) and then we did two buildings at a big apartment complex, but that was sort of a bust because only like 1/4 of the people who live in those apartments were handing out candy. I get that it’s sort of expensive to buy candy for the entire town, but I feel like more people should have at least done SOMETHING… pretty much everybody had the "we are not participating" sign on their doors. I can’t wait to live in the real united states and not have to worry about stupid crap like this….

Milo was super cute in his ewok costume and he had a fun time, he kept trying to hand candy back to the people who were giving him candy, like he’d get one from them so he’d take one out of his bucket and try to trade? It was adorable, and people kept giving him even more candy lol  We went home pretty early, we only ToT’ed for about an hour, once you subtract driving times.. it was pretty lame and I felt bad for Kasin, but he was happy with what he got, so I suppose that’s all that matters. A couple who are friends with Heather kind of tagged along with us but we kept getting separated and Ross kept trying to lose them because he doesn’t like them (neither do I, actually, but I felt obligated…) and so that was awkward… and when we WERE walking with them/talking to them, he would either purposefully walk way ahead of or way behind us, like a pre-teen throwing a tantrum. Ugh. Grow up, dude.

Anyways, now October is officially over and I’m ready for Xmas stuff. The kids have portraits scheduled for December 8th, which is actually making me really nervous, because that seems like not enough time to get them printed, enveloped and mailed, to me. I went and bought stamps the other day cuz I happened to have an unusually large chunk of change in my bank account after paying bills and such, so I figured it seemed like a good plan to get that out of the way well in advance.. usually stamps are the thing that keep me from mailing everything out on time. Stamps are kind of expensive. So now I already have my cards and my stamps, I just need pictures and I can mail things out right after Turkey day.

Julie is going to make her scratch corn bread stuffing and corn pudding, Ross and I will do a turkey and potatoes… Alex will bring rolls.

Milo is up from his nap, off I go!

ps- we’re fostering two of my friend’s cats, Squiggle and Floofy, starting today, they should be here at three. God help us.

Sounds like you pulled together a good Halloween in spite of snow and such. I’m excited for Christmas, too.

RYN: Good memory! But we changed our mind on Annabelle, although the girls name we have in mind still starts with an A. I can’t wait for Christmas either. Halloween was a bit of a bust here too. It was way too cold for trick or treaters to stay out for long.

aww, what a good share-er milo is!

I am so ready for Christmas! I understand your feelings. And with snow I’d want to get the show on the road with that holiday too. Ashley
