–winter wonderland

In the past 24 hours, we have gotten 21 inches of snow at our house, and the storm isn’t supposed to pass until tomorrow morning. It’s still snowing like a mother fucker out there. Matt and I are both off work, which is good since we both have a half an hour drive to work in good weather. We tried to go to the store this morning to get some food for today, and made it about 15 feet down the road before high-centering on the snow. When the snow is almost 2 feet high and your bumper is 10 inches off the ground, it’s hard to get anywhere.

We only live 4 blocks from a main arterial, but we can’t get to it, so we’re pretty much stranded. We’re on a bus route which usually gets plowed, but the Spokane Transit Authority is only running limited routes by order of the state patrol, and our route isn’t one of them, so it probably won’t get plowed any time soon.

On the plus side, since I don’t work Fridays, I get a 4-day weekend. Then the next two weeks we’re only working Monday and Tuesday because of Christmas and New Years, so I’ll get two 5-day weekends in a row after this. Expect to see a little more of me for the next few weeks.

If you look carefully, you can see the tips of the candy canes that line our walkway. They’re pretty much buried. Our fence is 3 feet high on the side and 4 feet on the front, so that gives you an idea of how much snow is there.

That’s a whole lotta snow! Man.. if we get two inches, the whole country comes to a standstill. I wonder how they’d react to all that!

omg! i’m so happy we don’t get snow here. lol.

holy crap! the being stranded business is cozy for a little while, but it gets old, doesn’t it? please keep all of that snow, and don’t send any my way! hooray for seeing you around here more often!

I still had to work!! My boss even came and got me in her big four-wheel drive truck – because apparently baristas are like the Postal Service… not sleet nor snow shall keep us from making coffee 🙂 Well, at least I have tomorrow off anyway. Enjoy your weekends!

Ooooh, look at all that snow! *RYN* I love watching the ticker go down too! =)

ryn: you know what? the ticker made it really real for me too, strangely enough. i mean, it even made it more real than seeing the doctor yesterday. i saw it in that first entry and thought, “woah! this is actually happening, and i’m proclaiming it to everyone!” weird!
