Worse

I just got home from a very not fun morning at the doctor. Baby’s cold has turned into something, I’m not sure what. But she has a bad cough, and was kind of breathing weirdly, so I took her in.

The doctor heard something listening to her chest, so they did a nose swab test (not fun for Baby!) to check for flu and RSV (both negative), and then did a chest xray to rule out pneumonia. I’m waiting on the results of that right now, and freaking the fuck out.

Also, getting a chest xray for a baby is an absolutely horrible process. I’d really never given any thought to it before, but obviously you can’t just tell a baby to hold still, take a deep breath, or whatever, so you have to put them in this little thing that looks like a baby torture device…it’s kind of a plastic tube thing that held her upright (and had nothing at all to keep her from bonking her head against the plastic), and I had to hold her arms above her head, which she was very not happy about. It was slightly traumatic.

Ok, actually the doctor just called after I finished that last paragraph. Not pneumonia!! I guess it’s some sort of viral bronchitis, which doesn’t really sound that much better, and since it’s viral there’s nothing at all we can do about it except just try to make her feel better.

Poor girl. 🙁

There is really nothing quite like the extreme vulnerability that comes with being a mother. I know she’ll probably be fine in a few days, but this waiting, and not actually doing anything, and basically watching helplessly while my baby is sick….really not much fun.

Praying for your sweet baby to make a quick recovery! I know how frightening it is to have a sick baby and how miserable the poor little one is. 🙁

There aren’t many things in this world that make you feel more helpless than when your babies are sick. When my son first broke out in MRSA, I felt like my whole world had spun out of control. Hope baby gets to feeling better soon.

Ugh not much breaks my heart more than seeing sick babies 🙁 Crossing my fingers that she gets better soon!
