My Communications Essay on someone i Admire.

Jesus Christ, the Messiah

The person who has most influenced my life is Jesus Christ. For as long as I can remember I have been going to church. In the early days I just went and didn’t understand, about the early part of my senior year in high school I went to see a play called Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames. That night I recommitted my self to my Savior.

God gave his only begotten son so that whoever believeth in him should not parish but have ever lasting life. (John 3:16) That is the essence of what gives the power and strength to God. Through Jesus we know God, forgiveness, love, mercy, and strength to get through the rough times. This last one I know a lot about because of my childhood spotted with death. I never thought I’d make it to where I am today, but with his help I have made it and I’m so very thankful.

Treat others as you want to be treated is one of many old Christian sayings, but it’s the basis of the life of Jesus Christ. He treats all people with kindness, respect, mercy, forgiveness and love. Which is how were supposed to treat the people around us, but as the world is today you can actually see that its not taken root as other things have. There’s so much hate and bigotry in this world, if we just had paid attention to Christ then we wouldn’t be in this fix of racism, 9-11 – Terrorists, or possible war with Iraq.

I believe that Joan Osborne sums it up best when she said “What if god was one of us?”, by not following the bible and our beliefs in the Christian faith, then if God truly was one of us no one would want to be God. Jesus is his son, and here were not even treating people as he taught us to. In a word life is nuts, but here we are admiring a guy who is long since dead and the works that he did for us. The way he taught to care for the strangers, needy, and give of ourselves it’s still something that we need to be doing to this day.

So I end with this quote from a friend. “Following Jesus is not an easy thing, there is so much to get in the way of walking the good walk (there is so much to get in the way of any walk) but at the same time, when I fall the ground isn’t so hard, and when I’m helped back up, I’m brought to a place much higher than the place I was before I fell. We have a god that can get us through anything. God gets us through everything. the great part is, this opportunity to have someone to cushion your fall and someone to always lift you higher, someone who let’s you learn from your mistakes rather than shove your mistakes in your face, someone who is right there with you no matter what ails you, someone who never gives up, someone who believes in you whether you believe in him or not no matter who you are, belongs to everyone. If you can find something else that gives you that, then so be it, but when it comes down to it. It’s just you, Him, and eternity.” — Bob Besser
