Give it away

— You’re not talking to me.
– I’ve been thinking.
— Is it because everything is going so well?
– Is it going so well?
— Some would say so.
– But you know better.
She looks down and gives some kind of smile
— I guess I know better.
– It just makes more sense, to them.
Looks up at me again
– But it’s just as meaningless to me.
Blink
— What is it?
– I figured out, I want to give you away.
— Oh?
– So that you don’t die when I go.
Blink
Stare
— That’s tricky.
And I stare
– Yes it is.
Her hair moves as if there is a breeze
— How will you do it?
– Oh but I’m doing it.
— It’s a little abstract.
– It’s as far as I’m willing to go until I can trust someone enough to introduce you to them.
— You don’t trust anyone.
Stare
– No.
Stare
– I don’t trust anyone.
Stare
– Not at all.
She inhales through her nose
Exhales through her mouth
— It’s hard. I don’t know. Maybe you can’t.
Blink
– Yes.
Pause
– That’s what I’m thinking.
