Eyes

I got my haircut today. I was talking to the lady cutting my hair, and we were talking about how people forget they are wearing their glasses (because I forgot I was wearing mine) and how women don’t like to wear glasses sometimes because it hides their eye color.

She told me her niece wears contacts so she can show off her green eyes, because they change color.

And then she asked me if my eyes changed colors, or if they were just one color.

So I told her they don’t change colors. My eyes are just brown all the time.

And she replied to me “Your eyes are green, sweety.”

And I said “Green? They’re brown.”

But she handed me my glasses and sure enough, when she handed me the mirror my eyes were green. Not just light green either, this was like Emerald City green.

All my life my eyes have been brown. I’ve never seen them change color like this. They’re still green now, but it’s got a rim of brown on the inside, it’s changing back to brown.

I wonder if they’ll ever change again?
