Sinfonía en Azul
SYMPHONY IN BLUE (1938)
Evaristo Ribera Chevremont
I am harvesting blue in the simple blue
of the tropical region. The fields, invaded
by vegetal masses, denouncing the secret
of April, of the strong and lubricious senses.
So blue, the airs display themselves exalted;
fluttering, in joyful expansions, the grove;
and revealing the lucid and boiling settlements
from which brilliant clouds of dust fall.
The blue vibrates, nourished by power and delight
on the green island. Scarlets shine.
Splendent yellows and blues. Young touches
have resurrected the bushes in the garden.
Some flowers, their petals swollen and blue,
immersed in the magnetic light of day.
In the warm banks their blue waves curl.
The blue air says, intricate symphony.
