Surgery, 4 months, & wish I could make this up
The surgery went well yesterday, and we are home now. It was a long day. I was up for 16 hours with no break, and at the hospital for almost 8 hours with a 4 month old. It was a challange to say the least, but nurses love babies and that helps.
They scoped his left knee and then did a procedure called a microfracture. It freaked me out, and I really don’t like thinking about it.
I was happy about the quiality of the nurses and the care at the va really, they were great. Till we went to leave, and said he could not have any more pain medication till we were checked out? Then they couldn’t give us an escort out. I had Travis in a wheelchair, a walker, an hydro ice pack system, Sirris, my purse, a diaper bag, and Travis’ belonging bag, and I was supposed to magically cary it out myself, as part of my duties as his "driver"??? Really? Even without Sirris I am not sure how I would have done.
We made it home and I was exhausted, simply exhausted, I still am really. It was a long day and I was up all night with Sirris nursing, and Travis getting him pain meds and ice.
He is off walking for 6 whole weeks, then he will progress to some weight bearing, then walking. It is awful trying to keep him down, but they warned him if he walks his femur could shatter. Hopefully that is motivating.
Monday I have got to call to find him respite for when I go see friends in 2 weeks, maybe the wedding and when classes start back. I don’t know how many hours I might get, but I hope it is enough. Even an hour a day to make his lunch should be fine really.
I did really well in the hospital, it didn’t smell the same, so that helped tremendiously. I had an interesting gent to talk to in the waiting room, his name was steve, and he seemed like one of those paranoid guys that will go patriot or off the grid. He was talking about making his own fuel? You know he was nice though, and actually had thoguhts in his head, so I was fine.
When Travis came out of surgery all he was worried about was Sirris. It is endearing right?
While in Indy we saw the Star Wars exhibit, I have pics in a later entry.
We also saw one of my most favorite real life favs. We had a delcious dinner with her and her husband. It was so awesome to have dinner with a couple who are parents and have common intrests. I am happy to be able to see her, and only wished we were closer. I would love to see her more. She isn’t scared off by me, so thats nice.
Sirris had his well baby this week. He is perfecrtly happy healthy and amazing in every way. Like all my kids he started off big but is dropping off his curve. He gained 2 pounds in 2 months which puts him at 13lbs 4 oz. and 25 inches tall. so 16% and 50% respectively. He is growing and that is all that maters. He is such a charmer, and smiles so big. I love all his babiness.
This week I had a guy from high school profress his undying love for me, and has all but proposed, and wants to break off his engagement and wants to me run away with him. I wish I could make this up, but sadly I am not. He has been in love with me for nearly 20 years or so, but sadly, I have never truly felt like that about him. He would be an awesome husband and father, but not to me… You know it is different. I could go on, but it is just too crazy to type out and I need to work on it more before I do.
I am praying for a nap this afternoon… That’s all I need. Then tomorrow it is to painting the homeschool room, and then making up the lesson plans for the year. From there we can start school…. School, because I don’t have enough on my plate.

I’m glad the surgery went well. I wish I could come watch the kiddos and help out with Travis so you could get a nap. I’d love to sit down and do some lesson planning as well! 🙂 I hope his recovery is as quick and painless as possible.
