Ker-smash

If there is one true thing you should know about me is never call me darlin (or sweetheart, or honey, or doll) … Especially, when we have no prior relationship, and you just mangled my van, with my newborn child in it… It makes me angry. Insanely angry.  

So, just when I was thinking I had had it with everything, things go even crazier…

I was merrily driving to class. (because yes I am crazy enough to go back to class just 2 weeks after having a baby.) when I was in a car wreck.

I was driving straight, and a car turned left in front of me, and viola my van is pretty messed up.

My head light and fog lamp are gone. My bumper is beyond damaged, my windshield popped its seal, my hood, grill and quater panel are damaged, my frame is bent, my passanger door doesn’t open, and my wipers are hitting the hood now. Oh and when I went to turn it back on it wouldn’t work, at all.

He is trying to fight the accident, saying I came from no where. Well yes, as in the light turned green, and I crossed the intersection. Or he didn’t hear me brake. Well no, I tried, but I hit him too fast, and that he was almost in a parking lot, he almost made it. 

Every argument he made the police said no, he failed to yield to oncoming traffic. I was on green, I went through my light, I had the right of way.

No one got a ticket, and I was found not at fault in the police report. 

I cleaned out my van so the insurance company can come get it in the morning, and I will be picking up a rental in the morning. I have no idea what I am getting. Apparently my policy only covers up to $30 a day. Which is only a car size. I have 3 car seats, 3 very large car  seats, I need a van. They do not pay for vans, and the out of pocket is something like 50 extra a week. She told me to go ask them to make me a deal. So I will.

I am fine, the only thing I am mad about it the fact Sirris was in the car with me. My mama bear instinct wanted to growl loudly at him. He slept through it, and when he did wake up I nursed him happily, while talking to the police officer… He wanted to check to see if I was nursing. (he was a bit on edge, repsectful but on edge, the fort has had several violent killings int he past week.) I mean he had to make sure I wasn’t holding something dangerous in my little bundle. 

But go me for nursing without fear!

The insurance company fears they will total my van… sigh… I can’t afford that, because I need a new one, and I still owe on this one… 

It has brand new week old tires on it. 

Sigh…. I sometimes wonder why, and I say I am not worried, and I know it will all work out, but still, I worry.
