the big three oh!

Random Thought Of The Entry:  My mind and I have turned thirty years old today.

Today is/was my thirtieth birthday.  I’m 30 years old.  It’s strange to "say" it and have it be true.

I’m mostly just amazed that I’ve made it this far.  All day long today I kept thanking the not-really-existent-but-everything-depends-on-the-observer ether for letting me live to see this day, when a few months shy of ten years ago I was faced with a situation that I was unsure to survive.

What really blows my mind and makes me feel good is that I’ve got such an awesome life.  I have a steady job that I’m really good at, a beautiful wife that I fall more and more in love with every moment, and the most beautiful daughter ever created.  I did not see any of this coming ten years ago.  Or maybe I did, and that’s why I made it through all the brain shtuff.  I don’t know, all I know for sure is that I’m here now, and I’m so very grateful for that.

I’ve been rocking the dish-ass-kicker-y (the computer wouldn’t let me type that the way I wanted, so I had to add a second hyphen) this week (duh).  I had a slight mishap yesterday, though.  I was draining a big pot of potatoes, and putting them into these big pans so they could cool in the walk-in refrigerator, and I had to move another pan of potatoes out of the way (rotating the stock, and all that) and between putting one of the drained pots of potatoes down and moving the trays about, I stepped on something (probably the tray  that I’d left on the ground) and took a good ol’ fall, landing on my back and hitting my knee on the tray.  There’s no major damage, but I slightly cut up my knee (while denting the bajeezus out of the tray ’cause I’m so hardcore) and shocked up my back, elbow and shoulder.  It mostly just gave me a bit of a fright, and made me mad ’cause it should have been avoided, but I guess that’s why they call them accidents.  I went upstairs and freaked Sezzie out a little with my jarred-babbling, but then I got back to work and breezed through the rest of yesterday.

Today I woke up sore-as, chalked it up to all of that physical comedy I performed yesterday, and then realized I was also turning 30 today, so it’s to be expected that I’d be a little sore.  Aging is tough on the body, after all.  I still rocked at my job all day long.  Then I showered, got dressed, and then we went out to dinner with my mom, my stepdad, my brother, his wife, and my stepsister to Maggie McFly’s.  I had an XXL Burrito (it was pretty big, I don’t think I ate every morsel ’cause I wanted to save a little room for the obligatory birthday dessert thing which was this pretty-nice-chocolate cupcake thing and a cup of coffee).  My tummy is full and happy, my body is stiff and sore, but my momma got me a kindle for my birthday.  I’m happy and excited about that.

Now it’s time to drink some water and chill on the couch for a little bit, then go nigh nighs.  I can’t believe tomorrow is Thursday already.

Oh!  And thank you all for all the birthday love.  It makes me feel good to have you all in my life.  *big-squishy-group-hug*
