Wheezy

Well, it’s official now.

Jake’s been officially diagnosed with asthma. He’s on an albuterol inhaler and Singulair.

We’re going to give the medicines some time, and then make a determination on the cats. Getting rid of them was one of the suggestions the doctor made to him.

For those who asked: No, Jake hasn’t always had problems. It developed while he was in Iraq and wasn’t much of an issue until sometime last year. It’s just gotten progressively worse, and he finally went and saw a doctor. It doesn’t appear to be allergy related, though that’s certainly not ruled out, hence the suggestion to maybe get rid of the cats.

oh man, sorry to hear that!!

Oh no. :o( Has he always had issues with it…or is it a newly formed (maybe allergy-induced) condition? I hope he feels better ASAP with the meds!

I swear, we’re going through the exact same thing with Craig right now. He didn’t wheeze too much before he left to go to Iraq-he could run a few miles without any problems, and we both used to hike and bike a lot. Now, he wheezes all the time. The doctor wants to do a chest x-ray to see what he can find, and I bet he has asthma as well. I hate to hear that about Jake, but I’m glad they found out what it was. Do you think he’ll get disability or anything from the VA? (I know they’re your favorite people, right?) 🙂
