oink oink

We just got back from our appointment with the lactation consultant that works for our pediatrician’s office. I met her on Tuesday before we left the hospital, and so I already knew what was going to happen during the appointment.

She weighed Noah first thing, and he’s gained 3 ounces since they last weighed him at the hospital, which is right on schedule, since he should be gaining about an ounce a day. And then she evaluated how well he nurses….and he is a pro, let me tell you! Our latch is great, and little man is SUCH a little piggy! We popped him off after about 10 minutes to weigh him again, then weighed him again after he decided he was finished with the first breast, then weighed him one more time after he was done with the second…he ate a total of 2 1/2 ounces!!! That is A LOT for such a little guy!! She said if he keeps it up, he’ll weigh 6 1/2 pounds by next Friday…we’ll see I guess, because we have another appointment then for her to weigh him and stuff.

And I will so totally be writing a letter to the hospital. I was telling Leta about the horrible crappy nurse I had while in the hospital, and when I told her which nurse it was specifically, she nodded knowingly and said that I’m not the first person to have this experience with this nurse. And that’s just not right – there is NO reason for her to be so discouraging towards new mommies like that.

Anyway, little man is asleep, so I’m gonna snooze for a bit myself…JR, Louisa, and Dale are coming out here tonight, so I know I won’t have many opportunities for napping this weekend….so I need to get whatever sleep I can, while I can!

I am glad he is doing well! That is great. Addison has put on almost 3 pounds since birth. At my WIC appointment Wednesday she weighed 7 lbs and 10 oz. 🙂 I am glad you are writing a letter about that nurse!

Very glad you’re complaining about that nurse! Charlotte is supposed to be awesome for BF’ing support but you’d never know it if you were the patient of that woman! That’s awesome that Noah is such a good eater. I hope I have the same kind of luck!
