and the saga continues *edit*

Figured I should jump on here quickly. I’ve been busy Nicholai’s whole nap time and he is moving around and fussing so I won’t have much time.

Short of it. He has another ear infection. He has had a fever of 101.5, 101.7, 101 the last 3 days. We were at the ER last night because his fever was so close to 102.

He is up and crying…. I will have to come back and edit this later.

*EDIT*
Ok sweetie boy is in bed so I have some time to do a real update.

I don’t know how many of you read my last entry but I was talking about how weird Nicholai was acting…. well I found out why after his nap. He woke up and was burning up so I took his temp. 101.5! That is the highest fever he ever had and he was miserable. He didn’t want to do anything, he slept on me and snuggled on me all night long. He wasn’t hungry, hardly ate anything for dinner. He was a mess. But he went to bed fine and I figured well hopefully he will be feeling better since it was the Halloween party the next day and he has only ever had a fever 1 other time in his little life and it only lasted 1 day.

He wakes up in the morning, temp 100. *sigh* So I give him some more medicine and he takes a nap all morning and wakes up and is acting like normal. Temp 98.6. Ok… so we start getting ready for the party. I get in my costume, get our stuff together that we are bringing and we go to the party. He was doing so well and there were a LOT of people there. About 20 mommies and maybe 25 little kids all under 3 running around. We are there for maybe 3 hours and then we go home. He doesn’t nap. Not even a little. Ok. So I let him down to play and he plays for maybe 1 hour and then he starts acting weird again. He crawls onto my lap and can’t stay awake so I let him sleep since he didn’t nap at all. And he is laying on me and he makes me start sweating so I take his temp. Temp 101.7! Crap! So I call the after hours and they here his raspy breathing over the phone and tell me to take him to the ER. *smashes head into wall*

So I load him into the car and off we go to the ER. We check in and wait for triage. Then wait for a room. They gave him some Tylenol and checked him out. And guess what? He had yet another ear infection. So they give me a script for antibiotics and send us home. We made good time in there though…. our hospital has a seperate peds ER so we were only there for about 2 hours. And by the time we left his temp was 98.7. Yay! So we go home, have dinner, play and he goes off to bed.

This morning he wakes up and is acting like a sad zombie again. He has a ped appt at 10:45 so I don’t even bother taking his temp or anything. I figure we will just get ready. Well I sit him on the bed so I can get makeup on, get dressed and comb my hair quickly and he just sits there looking so sad. He wanted me to hold him but I couldn’t do that and get ready. Normally he would play with the pillows on the bed and laugh and mess around but no… my poor sweetie boy just sat there

There he is…. sitting there looking so upset while I get ready. But I finally get ready and we go off to the ped. He was supposed to be getting shots but since we were at the ER the night before and he was obviously sick they had to get his ped so we had to wait a little longer then normal. She checks him over, looks in his ears, yup… left ear is infected AGAIN. This is his 4th ear infection in 3 months. So I ask her if we should start considering tubes. Chris had tubes 3 times when he was little and he had chronic ear infections so she said if this isn’t cleared up by the time he comes back for his next appt on the 22nd then we may have to seriously consider tubes.

So that brings us to tonight. We started the antibiotics tonight and he has to take them for 10 days. We have about 3 weeks until he goes back to the ped. Chris is upset that he passed on his ear issues to Nicholai. He is upset that I had to take Nicholai to the ER without him.

Gah… such a mess. I just wish that Nicholai could catch a break. I hate seeing him so miserable. But tonight he was acting more like himself then he has in 3 days. He was dancing and talking and smiling. I can’t believe how much I missed seeing his smile in just 3 days but seeing him smile his little cheesy grin was so priceless tonight.

Ok… is past 11 so it’s WAY past my bed time and I still need to do some  meditation before bed.

oooh! that little face! its so…. sad, and yet so precious! i just want to hug him til the world and all its problems melt away!!! (probably how you feel everyday. whether hes happy or sad, eh? <3) soooo glad hes feeling better! it looks like im walking into a situation much like yours! my hunny, and his only two brothers had tubes, and his oldest bros son (our nephew) has had 4 sets of tubes

October 30, 2010

so definetly, i think if he needs them, its a pretty safe way to go, and my nephew really did pretty well with it each time (he is almost 5 now, and his first set of tubes were put in at about 18 months i believe). just dont let your hunny feel too bad, you never know, when Nicholai is older he might like the fact that he has ears like daddy. a bonding thing…. best of luck, my lovelies! <3

Oh poor baby! Hope he gets to feeling better!

Poor sweetie pie… I remember how awful those ear infections can be! 🙁 Sure hope that he’s feeling better by now, though. When my daughter was little, I was having to take her to the doctor constantly over ear infections. Finally, a friend of ours who worked at a health food store suggested something called “Combination CBG Extract” — you can put it directly into their ear like ear drops, or you can give it to them orally in juice or food. It helps clear up the infection and is also a pain reliever. I haven’t had to take her to the doctor since then … and that was over eleven years ago! :o)
