8 months already

Well here I am again finally. I tried to get on here a million other times but I was either too tired or Nicholai was being super clingy. I have hardly gotten any sleep the last 10 nights. He would go to bed between 9-10 and wake up around 1 or 2am and scream bloody murder for hours. He wouldn’t fall back to sleep and if he did it was only for about 30 seconds and then he would start crying again. I’ve felt like such a terrible mom these past couple nights because seriously no matter what I did nothing helped…. it was rough. And I’m still sick so the little sleep I have been getting hasn’t really been restful.

So I finally gave in and called the ped this morning and got an appt. I gave him some left over script of his cold medicine from the last time, but that was as a last resort…. I didn’t want to have to keep giving it to him if he wasn’t actually sick. It helped last night, but I wasn’t happy about doing it. So at 11am this morning we got to the office. He was in a pretty good mood, I’m guessing since he actually got some sleep. We must have sat there for an hour but we finally got in.

This wasn’t the office we normally go to. So the ped was someone new, but she was really thorough. She asked all kinds of questions… did you get a new pet? did you just come back from vacation? had any new people over? any big changes with his diet? did you move to a new place? Of course the answer to all these questions is no. So she starts examining him. Lungs sound fine, heart sounds fine, ears are clear, belly feels fine, soft spot looks normal, lymph nodes feel fine… and then she looks in his mouth. Guess who is cutting teeth? Yuppers… Nicholai is.

Ok ok ok…. I know what you are thinking. Stupid mommy, you should of thought of that. Before you jump all over me, I did check for teeth. He already has his bottom 2 teeth, so I’ve been waiting for his top 2 teeth to come in because those are supposed to be next. Well those aren’t the teeth that are coming in. It’s the yellow ones on the chart that are coming in now. And if you look the front bottoms are supposed to come in around 6-10 months. He got his around 4-5 months. Then the top middle around 8-12 and THEN the top sides around 9-13 months. His ped was even surprised to see those teeth coming in. She said he is cutting teeth out of order and just doing his own thing and that those teeth often cause  a lot of discomfort. Haha leave it to our son to choose a totally random order for his teeth to come in lol.

But according to his ped everything is normal and she is thinking that his night issues have been because of his teeth. She said that we have been doing everything right and we haven’t missed anything so not to worry. Which made me feel a lot better.

I wonder how tonight is going to go?

Nicholai is also 8 months old now! He turned 8 months old on Sunday. We went to the Dogwood Festival and we took him to the playground for the first time. He had so much fun!!! I am waiting for hubs to upload the rest of the pics from his phone, but I will post them soon, promise! It was so nice to have family time… just hubs, little bit and me. I almost can’t wait for Nicholai to be older so we can really play at the playground. He swung on his first swing, went down his first slide, climbed some rocks, held on to the monkey bars, drove the car, tried to eat grass… it was awesome!!!! I will leave you all with a teaser pic of Nicholai and I at the park. More pics are coming…. promise!!

Babies don’t always act the same from one round of teething to the next, it’s easy to miss “the obvious” things with them since they don’t ‘speak English’ yet. He’s a beautiful baby!
