I am a terrible ODer long and w/pics

I know that I keep saying I am going to post more often but there is always just so much going on anymore… Nicholai keeps me so busy so I don’t really ever have time to just sit down and write like I used to. I wish that I did because I want to remember as much of this time as I can. I going to have to get better and writing here lol.

Well lets see…. what has been going on. Christmas was amazing. The drive up to Jersey wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be considering that we left Christmas Eve. We got to Jersey in plenty of time and Nicholai slept pretty much the whole way. We only stopped one time so I could nurse and it didn’t mess with his schedule as far as sleeping at nights. Naptime was another story but with my mum, Allison, Rebecca, my father and my MIL it wasn’t hard to find someone to hold a sleeping baby if I needed to get something done. Nicholai made a killing with the presents lol. I got what I wanted and more. I was more concerned with how Nicholai was going to do and even though he fell asleep during the whole present unwrapping process I still think he had fun.

We stayed in Jersey for a little over 2 weeks and then drove the 6 hours to Pittsburgh for Molly and Justin’s big wedding. It snowed during the drive… ugh it was awful. Maybe I wouldn’t have been so stressed but Nicholai was in the car so that made me nervous, we had to drop the cats off at a PetHotel which meant picking them up again on the way home and the trip back to NC from Pittsburgh was awful. 10+ hours in the car with 2 cats, a husband, a baby and a car picked to capacity with stuff was too much and it was too long of a drive to poor Nicholai and he had a really rough last hour so we are not taking any long road trips like that again until he is 1.

Molly and Justin’s wedding was just beautiful! Almost makes me want to go through all that to have a formal wedding…. almost lol. But I’m honored that I was asked to be in the wedding and we had a really great time. Everyone went crazy over Nicholai and he did so well. He slept through the whole ceremony and didn’t make one sound which was what I was worried about. He was in the stoller the whole time since Chris and I were both in the wedding. I’ve never been so proud. We have such an awesome little boy.

After all of that we are now home and still trying to get his schedule back. He still doesn’t sleep through the night and he is at the weight limit for the pack n play bassinet so we are going to have to move him to the crib. That is going to be rough and I’m not looking forward to it but he does nap in the crib so I’m hoping the transition won’t be too awful. I stopped turning on his vibration when I put him down for bed and he is still sleeping until 2-3am like always before he wakes up the first time so small steps I guess.

Nicholai is going to be 5 months old on Monday! I can’t believe it. He is growing up so fast. He reaches for toys and plays with them now. He is starting to reach for me when he wants me to hold him. He is such a happy baby! His 4 month check up just passed on the 4th. He is 14.3 pounds and 23 inches long. He got 2 shots and he only cried for 1 of them! His ped. put him down on his belly on the exam table and he starts kicking his little legs and scooting himself across the table and she goes crazy! She kept saying how advanced he was and that he shouldn’t be doing that until around 6 months. I didn’t see what the big deal was… he has been scooting around like that for a while now and today I put him down with his feet touching me and he turned his little self around so that he could see me about 2 min later. Mobility is on the way…. and I’m doomed lol.

He is still only breastfeed. His last growth spurt was awful and he had 1 night of not sleeping at all and I thought I was going to have to give in and start the rice cereal early but he is back to his normal feeding schedule so I might be able to hold off and keep him BF only until 6 months. I have a huge stockpile of frozen breastmilk in the freezer just incase my supply dips and I don’t make enough to keep up with him but so far so good.

Chris and I are doing great. His ankle is healing well. He went to ortho the other day and will be starting physical therapy soon. He hasn’t used the crutches since before Thanksgiving and he didn’t wear the boot last night when we went out. The dr said it was a little stiff but once he gets the PT going that should work itself out. He moved to a new batallion…. again…. but it looks like he is staying here for a while. As of right now he is going to be deploying in September for 8-10 months which is fine. He will be here for Nicholai’s whole first year of life and when he gets back we are going to buy a house so there is a lot of good coming from this upcoming deployment.

I thought that we were going to have to spend the whole year of 2010 getting out of debt but our tax refund is crazy huge and we are going to be able to get all caught up once that hits the bank and then start saving way sooner then I thought so house… here we come!

I am so happy about everything that has been going on right now. Life is perfect!
