an amazing man and artist
I don’t know how many of you are fimilar with the surrealist artist Salvador Dali, but we have been talking about him in my art history class. The last couple class we have watched a video biography of him. He was an amazing man. I am going to try and buy the movie that I was watching in class.
He lived from 1904-1989. He was full of himself, but he needed to be because of the art he did. He was a surrealist painter. In fact he was one of the leaders of the surrealist movement. He threw his work out there in order to be recognized. He loved attention. He loved himself. He loved his work. He loved his life. I know few people who love life the way the Dali did. He thought that his life was perfect. Even though he struggled with money often he never let on that he and his wife Gala were struggling. Another thing that amazed me about him was his love for Gala. He was obsessed with her. He painted her often, and even bought and renovated a castle for her. She was his muse. Without her his life and his paintings would not exsist according to Dali.
"Without Gala, I wouldn’t be Dali. She is my blood. She is my oxygen."
He moved on through his life without regret, never looking back.
"Mistakes are almost always of a sacred nature. Never try to correct them. On the cantrary: rationalize them, understand them thoroghly. After that, it will be possible for you to sublimate them.
He painted throughout his entire life from when he was 10 years of age until the day he died. He designed the museum that he died in, the Theatro Museo Dali, which is located in Figueres, Spain. The entire ceiling of the museum is a mural of his life with Gala. He put his all into everything that he did, every aspect of his life. He is an inspiration to me. The way he took the world in his hand and said it is my time now. . . all the rest of you need to hold on for the ride, that is awe-inspiring. Amazing. . . the power and strength of his soul. Imagine being that focused and that intense from childhood. Imagine having that much dedication to a purpose, a cause, that you completely believe in.
The Persistence of Memory
one of his most known paintings
Salvador Dali himself

I know him…I love his art. Surrealism is awesome. Oh and I noticed you’re Wiccan. That’s cool cause so am I. Except I’m one of those weird Wiccans that isn’t really as liberal as most of us are. I’m just special like that…lol just kidding. Well, as they say “blessed be.”

And yes…dedication to a purpose is a tremendously wonderful thing, when you feel it.
