Bacon laces

I love listening to my daughter. She says so much and there are often days when she will say multiple new words. Yesterday when I got her out of the car after our errands she would not stop saying home. This morning she pointed to the milk bottle and said “muk”. The best was when we watched Elmo’s World the other day. He was talking about school so she had to constantly choose if she wanted to say elmoo, sh (fish) or bus. I don’t know why but in the last couple of days she has been nuts for Elmo. We rarely watch sesame street and her doll is currently at the bottom of the toy chest. I think it must have been seeing my sesame street colouring book. She’s crazy for the little red monster.

Speaking of what she can say… the other day we went through our big foam letters because I wanted to see how many she knew. I held each one up and asked “what letter is this?” and she answered correctly for 20 of them! The only ones she doesn’t know are F, J, Q, V, X, Z.

The other day, Jake came home from work with a small hello kitty suitcase. Russ got it for Ashley. Isn’t that so cute? Ash loves her new bag, she carries it around all over the place and if we unzip it she puts things in it. She also loves that it has big letters on it because she gets praise when she says something correctly so that is the current favourite game.

Barb got Ash a new pool to play in, so we spent some time there yesterday afternoon (we came in because the sky went black pretty quick. And yet, it didn’t storm. Weird.) which was great. It was quite hot out so the cold water felt so awesome. Ashley kept saying “pool!” and after a few minutes she was happy to crawl to get to the toys that floated out of her reach. I have pictures and a video but you know what I always say, I’m on my phone and too lazy to go to the computer to upload things.

Today, Sunday, Jake had to work. I don’t like when he works weekends. Sunday is better than Saturday though, because they are only open in the morning. So as soon as nap time is over, Ash can play with her daddy. (I mentioned a while ago that she was getting lazy with her words, that is all better now. Instead of da and ma, we are daddy and mummy.) This morning Ash spent time chasing me while I cleaned. The heat tends to send bugs inside, and today I encountered a cockroach. Ew! It ran out from under the fridge. Ew ew ew. I squished it and not long after, the whole kitchen stank, kind of like a permanent marker. Bleh, stupid bug. So after nap, Jake and Ash played on the bed and I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom with lots of stinky stuff (bleach and vinegar) to get rid of the icky bug trails (and the disgusting water that gathers behind the toilet… must remember to tell Russ about that. Gross bathroom is always gross.) and just because Sundays are cleaning days.

I’m enjoying rambling, what else can I say… how is it July tomorrow? Weren’t we just in Australia a few weeks ago? Oh I know what I can say. For the past… month, I think, I’ve been washing my face with honey and baking soda (bicarb) and I feel like it is doing a really good job. For the first week I was trying to work out what worked for me best (and it draws out impurities so it was making me more pimply) but I think I have it down now. I mix some baking soda into some honey and rub that on my face (after conditioner has been put in my hair) then rinse that out and put just honey on my face until I am done with showering, then rinse it off. In the morning (I shower at night) I wash with just honey. It feels so awesome, and it tastes great too. Mmm… honey.

Careful, you might get bees inside, trying to get the honey off your face. Or, maybe even worse, Pooh Bear might come a-knocking. I’m hysterical coz the 24/7 vending machine is behind a locked door and I can’t get a drink. *giant hugs*

Do you know where the suitcase came from? I have been looking for one for Lily.
