My Dad is here! Yay!
Yesterday, Lisa came over to babysit while Jake and I drove to the airport to pick up my Dad. At least, that was the plan. Then we found out that Dad’s flight was SERIOUSLY delayed (Melb – LA flight was 2.5 hours late. LA – NY flight was 5 hours late!) and I started to get stress tummy. At first the he was scheduled to land at 8:20pm, instead of 4:30pm. 8 is Ashley’s bedtime, and I was freaking out wondering if I had enough milk for her, if she would cope without me here for bedtime for the first time ever (while I’m 2 hours away and can’t quickly come back to make it all better), if I was ready for someone else to put her to bed… I wanted to go on a drive with Jake, listening to music and snacking on candy and having a travel-date, but I knew I’d be tired and also worried about Ash and… yeah. Then the flight landing time was listed as 9:20pm, so I asked Lisa to go instead. She’s amazing, so very amazing. I can’t thank her enough. She kept telling me she was happy to help and preferred this way over us being out so late while I’m driving tired and her being here worried about us. I totally understand that, but I’m still grateful. I have a truly kick-ass mother in law.
ANYWAY! We still hung out all day, so Lisa did get her Ashy-time. During Ash’s nap, Lisa had lunch downstairs with her friend Michelle so we saw her at either end of the nap which was nice. Then Lisa, Ashley and I walked over to the post office to see if they were open and if the bathrobe I had ordered for Ash was there. It was, and it is VERY PINK (which I knew) and VERY HUGE (which I wasn’t expecting quite so much!) so she can’t really wear it yet but it will last a while. I had carefully picked one that would be big but that she could wear, I used the measurements they gave and it would have hit her ankles and been a bit long in the sleeves but that is ok. This is actually dragging on the floor behind her. Silly measurements were wrong!
Lisa left at 5:30, so then it was just a normal evening for this family, except Jake and I stayed up until MIDNIGHT waiting for Dad to get here. So glad he got here eventually, and I’m not at all jealous of him having to sit around airports for an extra 5.5 hours.
This morning, I did NOT want to get up. Pretty much all because of going to bed 2 hours later than usual. Plus I was all super excited for my Dad being here so it took ages to get to sleep (and then just as I was about to doze off I noticed how cold it was in here and I had to get up to put the heater on.. yargh).
Dad didn’t get up until after 10, which is surprising because Ash and Jake and I were playing quite loudly towards the end. We had lunch downstairs where Dad got to see just how loved Ash is there (and how much she loves it). I had egg/swiss/ham on a english muffin and it was SO DELICIOUS.
We haven’t really done much else today, besides talk about random things and play games on our phone/tablet (Dad and I ‘battle’ in phrases with friends, which thinks it is wheel of fortune. It is quite fun). We had san choy bao for dinner which Dad loved. I would be confused if he didn’t because it is an amazing meal. I am so sad that there are no leftovers, I had plans for them for lunch tomorrow! Rargh.
No pictures today, photobucket keeps messing up.
I’m glad Lisa was such a help to you guys. Please post a picture of Ash in her giganta-robe! xx

Ashley might have fun wearing a giant bathrobe. 😀 It’s so great that Lisa was happy to go for you instead. And that your dad is there.
