Ashley had her 1 year well doctor visit today. They never give me percentiles anymore, I don’t know why. She’s 21lb 4oz, and 29″ tall. She refused to sit on the weighing table thing, she just stood there like she was so cool. Which she is. She HATED everything the doctor did. Stethoscope, laying her down… everything was just torture. Then came the 4 shots! One in each limb. She was stoic when the nurse pricked her toe, but the shots were the worst thing ever. She was laying down, turned towards me, gripping me for dear life, screaming and crying this cry I have never heard before. She sounded absolutely tortured, poor girl! Right outside the exam room was playing Billie Jean, and that made us both happy

I don’t think the doctor quite believed me when I said Ashley says between 20 and 30 words. I looked at my list after and it is 23 so I was right.

The drive home was great. We listened to music which kept Ash calm. We had Bad and The Way You Make Me Feel on repeat, and other song just wasn’t quite right and she would stir from her nap. We hit traffic at one point which was great because it added 6 minutes (and a round of TWYMMF) to the nap. It was slow because of an accident (in the exact place Lisa had told me to be careful of only 2 days prior) and once through that, the woman behind me kept driving so close she almost smashed into me. Twice! Idiot.

The afternoon at home was just relaxing. Ash and I had some dark chocolate & mint tim tams (well, she had a tiny end of one of mine, she was SO HAPPY. I figured she deserved a reward for being a good girl. Yesterday she had a tiny piece from a chocolate box Jake got from work, and she had something on her birthday too. Unhealthy week!) and played until Jake came home at 3:30 which is UNHEARD OF, especially for a Friday. So we went to the barber shop today instead of tomorrow morning (Walt shuts at 5 and Jake usually gets out at 4:30 so with a baby that is impossible). We had to wait but that was good, gave Ashley time to warm up to her environment and by the end she was dancing to the music on the radio. So cute!

We went out for dinner because Maggie Mcflys was just down the road and we’ve been wanting to go back since we last went in October. Ash kept stealing the arugula off my sandwich. Strange bub, that one. After we ate, we grocery shopped. It’s nice to have gotten our Saturday chores done before Saturday AND we had a spontaneous little date.

I don’t think we have plans this weekend, other than Ash’s playdate with Kerry on Sunday. So that should be nice.

Oh! I don’t remember if I wrote about this. We need to get the top car seat tether anchor installed in our car, and it is free (yay) and so I contacted the Chevy place down the street 3 weeks ago. They said the part would be in in 3-4 days and then someone would call about an appointment to get it installed. 2 weeks later, I call them and oh it just came in today. So they had to research to see how and if they can do it, and would call right back once they were done to set up an appointment. 3 days later (today) I call them again. The guy I spoke to from Parts 3 days ago was shocked no one had contacted me. He got the service manager on the phone with me (who was the one who emailed saying it would take 4 days) and he said they researched before ordering the part, of course they can do it! So long story short, we go in 10am Monday and then Ash can have her more spacious car seat. Yay! So glad that is over, I’ve had my phone by my side for 3 weeks waiting for them to call me. Nice to be able to walk around without it without risking missing a call.

To end on a baby note: Ash can get up from sitting without holding on to anything. She started doing that on her birthday.

Poor little girl getting tortured with shots. Wouldn’t have been fun for you either. Glad that you can finally get the anchor thing fitted in your car.
