Jake won’t shush and let me think!

It has been snowing ALL DAY. Tiny flakes constantly falling. Apparently it is meant to keep going all night.  It is so pretty out, all white. There are no cars on the road, just the occasional plow. That part is kinda freaky.

Ashley and I went grocery shopping yesterday, which was a good move. We went early (9:30?) and it was already starting to get a bit packed. Kmart was ridiculously busy seeming, but that’s because there were very few people working so the lines at the register were huge. Grocery shopping is fun with the smoosh, she is so well behaved and calm when it is just me (ok, she is when Jake is there too but she always eventually just wants to be held, don’t have that problem when it is just me).

A few days ago Ashley started coming over to me with arms out for hugs. She runs a lot now so she runs at me for hugs and it is so damn cute. Today she was giving me so many kisses. Her kisses are just her trying to bite me but stopping just as the teeth touch me, so I end up with a big slobber circle on my face. Combined with hug-attacks it is the most adorable thing I have ever experienced. I love that she shows her love like that now. It’s amazing.

Today I realised she understands me when I say "mustard" and "monkey", she went for her monkey toy when I asked her where the monkey is, and when I asked her where the mustard (or mustard container) was, she would get the empty mustard bottle she has in her toy box. Such a smart. Jake was quite impressed by the mustard, he adores the stuff. Ash has been obsessed with mustard bottles for a week or so, whenever we go downstairs to eat she spies the bottle on the table and wants it. She opens one of our cupboards to get the mustard out. If the fridge is open she’ll run over and get that mustard. It is… oh man. Kinda hilarious.

She eats ‘huge’ amounts of veggies for lunch and dinner these days. She doesn’t chew them though, so her diapers are pretty hilarious looking. Today she had veggies and scrambled egg and rice cake with peanut butter on it for lunch. She just didn’t stop eating! When she’s full she tries to take off her bib, which is wonderful because it is a clear sign that she’s done.

Red rice means onion on the face. Rice cake means peanut butter on the eyebrow!

I don’t have anything else to say. Bugger. I hope we keep power through this storm. I realised last night that before Ashley was conceived, we didn’t have multi days of no power because of stupid storms. This is the 4th storm since she has existed that has threatened or has knocked out power… and that’s just wrong. Bad timing, weather. Making my baby look like she’s in control of you.

Title: Ok, so he will shush, just not when I’m trying to think of a title. Instead he rambles about dodgeball. What a weird man I love.

Ashley is so clever and so cute. I’ve read that the Mayor of CT (is there such a person or is it a Mayor of Hartford or such?) has banned traffic except for essential vehicles from secondary roads to allow plows and emergency vehicles access. Also in Boston and NYC.
