One nap and a car seat

Ash is really growing up lately. She eats what we eat for meals (mostly. Last night we had black bean burgers so she had some of the mix smeared on a rice cake). She loves pasta, and toast, and will eat eggs but not if there is something more exciting on her tray. (Can’t put the food on a plate or bowl, if I do the first thing she does is tip it over.)

I think she is also trying to get on a one nap schedule. Yesterday after the so-early-it-was-really-a-continuation-of-nighttime nap, she had a nap at lunchtime and that was it. Somehow she was still alert and energetic at 8pm (well, as much as she usually is at bedtime). Today she didn’t nap until 11am, and she was acting a touch sleepy at 2:30 so I brought her to bed. Instead she climbed off me and the bed and is running around looking at all the things in the bedroom. I would be very happy with one nap, because she needs me for nap time this would give me more time to actually do stuff.

Her birthday is coming up quickly. I don’t have any gifts for her, or any idea what to do for the family party. I don’t even know if it is here. I assume it is. I can’t decide if I should risk making a cake or if I should do cupcakes or what. I don’t like cakes, I can never make them moist enough for me to think they are good. Maybe I could try in a slice pan and then shape it like a 1 and ice the crap out of it. I make an awesome buttercream.

I’m so happy the weather is finally above freezing! Hopefully it will be on Friday/Saturday/Monday or whenever I get called from the car place, I don’t like driving when it is below freezing. Car place…. Lisa and Matt bought Ashley a new car seat for christmas. Unfortunately, my car is so old it doesn’t have the LATCH system, and therefore no anchor at the back for the car seat to hook on to. Last night I did some research on the computer, and emailed the chevy dealership down the street because GM will put in one anchor for free. Yay! So the parts have to come from Michigan but then we will be able to actually use Ashley’s new car seat which I’m excited for. (Apparently only 3 brands in the US need the back tether for rear facing, trust me to pick one of them!)

Ash spent my writing time pulling tissues out of the box! She didn’t rip any, so that’s progress.

When I get computer time I have to share some adorable photos. But until then…

Oh man, almost 1st birthday! Tiny people grow too fast! I think cupcakes are at least as excellent as large cakes, and they are appropriately baby sized! I am leaving America in two days. It is sad because I won’t get to see Johanna again for an undetermined period of time, but good because I get to see Isaac again (and other family who are pretty alright too). I didn’t go to see Craig in the end

RYN: I know! I didn’t even do my token end-of-year survey entry because I was in Portland without a computer for New Year. I will try to post a new entry soon. Possibly about my trip, or possibly about some kind of baked good…

That’s great that GM will do it for free! We were at 56 here today. Tomorrow we’re expecting 6-8 inches of snow and on Thurs, it’s supposed to be 5 degrees. Not looking forward.

Cup cakes sound like a good idea. Arranged on a plate to form number 1.
