Black hole of adorability

I have a video of Ashley eating apple sauce that I wanted to put here, but it is TOO BIG to upload and that makes me sad. Realplayer claims it can trim files but it won’t let me so I don’t know how to get this cute video online. Jake watched it on my camera and was all "awww!" She was so interested in my snack so I gave her some. She ate 2 small spoonfuls, actually ate not just pushed around her mouth and then spat out. I am proud of my awesome little girl.

Ash with her giant pink puppy.

I can’t believe it went by without me really noticing. Thursday marked one year since I randomly decided to take a pregnancy test and then was so shocked at the results a giant chunk of earwax fell out of my head (It’s gross, sure, but it is also true!) and I scared the cat. I think it was Lexi, she always followed me in the bathroom. I didn’t expect a big PREGNANT result, I was so certain I wasn’t but it had been a while since a period and I was a little scared of being one of those "I didn’t know I was pregnant" ladies, so every so often I’d pee on a stick. One of those "the most sophisticated piece of technology you will ever pee on" sticks. And now… now I have this giant crazy baby that makes me laugh so much and fills my heart with more joy than I thought possible.

Ash did so amazingly well at her doctor’s appointment on Wednesday. Yeah, she screamed when she got the shots, but who wouldn’t? She just got stabbed by a (proportionally huge) needle! She was fine as soon as I picked her up, and she stayed fine. I didn’t need to give her any pain relief meds once we got home, she was just… good. Happy and smiley and funny. The only thing that changed was that every 3 hours, on the dot, she would start crying heavily if I didn’t feed her THAT SECOND.

Before her appointment, we went downstairs so Ash could get some Barb cuddles and see Felicia and the others. Barb convinced me to come back afterwards if Ash wasn’t fussy, which meant my lunch was a delicious turkey reuben! A free one! And Ashy got 2 round of cuddles with Aunty Barb! So it was a total win-win. We also went to the grocery store to see Lucille, Ashley’s "grocery grandma" as I call her. Because there was no other customers in her line, Ash got more cuddles and kisses. I love how much people love our baby.

The best part of Wednesday, was when we got home from the doctors. I wanted to see if Ash needed anything (change/food/medicine) so we laid on the bed for a little bit for "observation", laying on our sides facing each other. It was so much lovely I could barely stand it. Then she managed to poop on the bed, but who cares. It’s just poop.

I decided to dress Ash in my tshirt. I thought it would look funny. I was right.

Wednesday night/Thursday morning was okay. Jake was up a lot with the baby apparently. I don’t know how, but I sleep right through her fussing most of the time, even though I’m less than 2 steps away from her. By 4am she needed food and so she slept next to me the rest of the night, where she was absolutely fine. I was a little freaked out when we woke up at about 8:30 and I realised her diaper wasn’t on right, somehow Jake had put it just on her leg. Yay for a baby that doesn’t pee constantly while asleep, or I would’ve gotten soaked.

Thursday and Friday were pretty similar, lots of having fun with the baby. It’s a good thing she’s fun, because she wouldn’t let me put her down for more than a second, and most of the time she didn’t even want her daddy, just me. Friday did feature Ashley’s first taste of non-milk food. We also played on the bed a lot. At one point she was propped up on my pillows and she fell to the side and then rolled from her side to her belly. I’m not sure if there was momentum involved so I’m not counting it but it was so cute, she seemed to surprised that such a thing could happen.

Friday evening and Jake got off work at 3:45. I had hoped he would get off work early so we could go to the barber and the grocery store, but I was so not expecting it to happen so I wasn’t at all prepared. Cue mad rush to get everything and go! We were a little delayed when Ash pooped on the couch (sadness – I can’t eat my most favourite meal anymore, it gives her incredibly messy poop-times. It’s the same meal I couldn’t eat while pregnant, the only meal that would make me throw up.) but we still managed it.

Today, Jake worked. Ashley and I went for a walk to the post office, on the way we spotted a really awesome tree. Such a pity I didn’t have my camera. Ashy couldn’t stop staring at it, she’s cute like that.

She ate more apple sauce, because she told me she wanted some. She was grabbing my hand and pulling the spoon in and out of her mouth – basically feeding herself. I’m so proud of my awesome little babe.

I better do some cleaning and stuff while I have a chance. My two loves are napping on the couch.

Windows movie maker ought to do it. I think it comes with all versions of windows. I love laying on the bed with the baby. What’s your favorite color?

Ashley is such a cutey. What a pity that your favourite meal doesn’t agree with her (and obviously never has). *giant hugs*

I love all of these pictures. The first one, with her eyebrows lifted up and I love the one with your T-Shirt on, Jake loved wearing his Daddy’s tshirts and the applesauce one, well I just love them all but then again anytime I get to look at that child is always my most favorite.

She just has such a huge personality!! And is too adorable for words!

She is so cute!!!!!! Ha ha to the poop in bed and the bad diaper! There’s been a couple times where my husband has put the diaper on bad, and ugh, of course those were mega-pee nights! ha ha! Good thing she wasn’t in bed with me like Ash was with you!
