Belly-rubbing methadone

Yesterday I learned something awesome. I can cut Ashley’s nails by playing an MJ DVD, that way she gets mesmorised and stays still. I can’t usually even cut her nails in her sleep because she doesn’t stay still enough. So I thought that was pretty awesome. She needed a nail-trim, she was slicing us up way too often.

Yesterday after work there was a joint birthday/graduation party downstairs. Mel is graduating college tomorrow, Kelly’s birthday was last week, Jake’s birthday is Tuesday and Marion’s birthday was in a few days too. So there was a (semi) big gathering of lovely people to celebrate. Ashley did SO WELL. She was passed around because everyone wanted to hold her and she was just so calm, she really looked like she was enjoying socialising when she was hanging out in the kitchen with a bunch of ladies, it was just so cute. She got tired and took a little nap on my lap and got woken up by Russ whooping after the candles on the cake were blown out. She looked a little shocked but she didn’t fuss or cry, just looked around with big eyes. She loved the second cake because she saw the candles on that. (Man that cake was tasty. Store bought and yet delicious? That’s unheard of!) Everyone kept commenting how awesome and calm and amazing she is, and it’s true. She rocked it. Plus she had an adorable little tunic/dress on.

Today Jake had to work. Even though it was no different than when he works weekdays, it felt different with him not being with Ash and I. I felt like I needed his help more, even though she was being perfectly wonderful.

We just had yummy chinese food for dinner, while Ashley spent time squealing on her playmat. It was the cutest thing, she’s been doing that all day. I hope she does it again in an hour when we are Skype-ing with my mum. Ash and I tested out the webcam earlier to make sure everything worked okay, and she loved looking at the baby on the computer. I wonder, does she know it is her yet? Sometimes I think she does, other times she looks jealous because the other baby is being held by Mummy.

Title: I love rubbing Ashley’s adorable little belly. It reminds me of when I had a nice round belly. I miss my big belly, but I love that I can rub the belly of the little person that was inside my belly. That is just so cool.

Apparently they don’t realize the baby in the mirror is them until they are closer to 2 years old. I’m allowed to hold the baby in the mirror but daddy isn’t lol.

babies can’t recognise themselves until they’re two, so they think it’s another baby in the mirror. it’s called self concept. cats never learn to recognise themselves so are constantly weary of their reflections! we did a topic on it this year at uni.

I love Ashley TV. her squeals sound delightful!

Aaah you were due 2 days after me 😀 Kind of neat seeing a baby born around the time my V should have been!!!! She is soooooo cute! Love love love the squeals! RYN: Omigoodness, I cannot believe your doctor said something about the teeth thing too! You’d think a doc would be hoping and encouraging women to try and make it to at least a year… or to that supposed 2 years WHOapparently says we should do. I love your back story by the way! I can’t believe how many people you know are on OD! That would be so great for sharing with family (especially before Facebook became uber popular!). I love that you met your husband on here 😀
